Had the cougar going big timeHis tail was twic5 yardshing big time. He got behind the stumps on the left under 15 yards. Had to stand up to close. Love the rush. Rick
-
That's some real good action Rick! Thanks for posting.
-
That is awesome!!!!
Despite what WDFW thinks about the cat population in Copalis, there is far too many of them. Cougar will be open all the way to the end of May next season so he will be fair game this time of year.
-
crazy exciting

I'll be up there tomorrow mid afternoon into the evening. I biked into the 6010 last week and found big piles in the road and at the very end are some really nice cuts, that aren't flat like everywhere else(Saw a good size elk herd back there, 25-30). Not sure If i'll hit the 6010 again or go in off the 8002 and hit some spots towards the Moclips Hwy. I'll be driving a black Jeep Cherokee, good luck and happy hunting!

Here's my camp. Railroad grade by the 80002. Didn't see one person yesterday. See you this afternoon. Rick
-
Tried to put a video on. Raining hard slow yesterday and today seeing lots of does and fawns.
-
Nice job sir.
-
Wohoo, nice job Rick!!
-
Bears shouldn't be far away with the fawns around.
-
Here is how I called to the cougar. Did fawn when I seen him in the road. He came right in. Wish it was sept1st. Rick

Outstanding work Rick. It's amazing what this guy can do with a call. He made the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Not an easy thing to do since I don't have any hair. :chuckle:

Just moved here and looking for areas to hunt... Where is the 6010 road? Is that by humptulips? Do you need a gate key for Raynior or is it open to public?
-
It is in the unit you need a key. Its open for spring bear till June 15th. Rick
-
So if I buy a key for it that key will get me in there for Elk Season?? What gate number is it from the road that I go to to find that road?

If youve never been out in the Copalis Flat Lands, itll be hard to explain..IMO. That area is flatter than a pancake. Really no landmarks. Miles of cleacuts & 2nd growth. Youll just need to get a Rayonier permit and put your boots on the ground....
-
What is the accepted boundary between Rayonier land & Quinault Reservation? How does one know if hes gone too far north? I think the Quinault boundary is just south of the Moclips Hwy. What about you guys?
-
Hey Rick! Just curious how the rest of the hunt went for you. See or bag anything?
It was really cool to meet you out there. We loved hearing your stories and learning about calling. That desert ironwood (?) call we got is awesome. The deer reactions were priceless! I can't wait to use it this fall for bear. Thanks again.
Red Toyota Beth :)

Couldn't make it back. Family stuff. Seen the three bears and called the bear and cougar up close made my year. Won a White river bull permit . Will be learning a new area very excited. Glad you got your bear. Next time I call a bear in i'll shoot first then get a picture LOL. Thanks Beth was great meeting you two. Rick
