Title: Moose
Post by: Miles on June 04, 2015, 05:24:03 AM
I had previously posted something about moose dying off in other parts of the US.  Here's a good article that explains some of what is going on in the state where I grew up.  It's sad really.   Hopefully WA doesn't see this in a couple more years, I see the potential though.

Uff!!!! I hate ticks! sad to see them having such an impact on the moose like that. I think someone posted a picture of a calf moose here in Washington they saved from a fence with a crap load of ticks on it. It didn't look to be to healthy either.

I've found blood and lots of ticks in moose beds during the winter months in WA.  I sure hope it doesn't develop into the problem that Maine/New Hampshire are having.

Maine and NH used to have problems with too many moose.  There were lots of car/moose collisions and quite a few moose tags given out every year.  Lately moose tags have been cut drastically and the populations are hurting.

When all the talk about increasing tags in WA was taking place, I couldn't help but think of what has happened back east.   :bdid:  Maine and NH also do not have wolves...
