My son drew a silver dollar youth any elk tag. Does anyone have any advice or experience?

Only experience I had was trying to get my daughter to draw this tag, good luck and I'm sure it's a no brainer. The ranch manager should be able to tell you everything you need to know. Good luck and enjoy!

i dont know if it is the same as youth tag but my grand father had the disabled tag few years ago and they set him up in a blind not far from fence line with hanford and just wait for them

My son had a any elk tags 3 years ago. Got to hunt 1 days, had a nice bull at 158 yards 22 minutes before shooting time. It can be a good or a bad tags. It all depends if the elk are moving or not. I have scene some very nice (once in a life time Wa Elk) taken.

Thanks, I saw the mention of 1 day hunt when I put him in for this tag. Wasn't sure if it meant it was a gimme (only takes one day to shoot an elk) or you may only get 1 day to hunt. :dunno:
It's the only permit we got between the two of us so I'm hoping it will work out for him.

Anybody have any success pics from this area to share? I searched around a bit on this forum and found mixed reviews. 1 guy claimed his kid never even got a chance to hunt. That's surprising since the season is so long.
It sounds a bit like a depredation hunt. They key to success on those types of hunts seems to be the ability of the hunter to get there quickly when you get the call. We will be all over that, if they call, we will be on our way! Lol

I know a friend of a friend's kid drew that permit a couple of years ago. He got to hunt the one day that the land owner was available to meet with them. They only saw one elk and it was on another landowners property. He didn't get an elk. Hopefully you have more success.

We are still waiting for the hunt info to be mailed to us. I'm hoping he gets more than a 1 day shot at an elk, unless of course he only needs one day.

My son drew that tag 2 years ago. We had a great time. It all depends on what ranch your son is assigned to. We were very fortunate on getting the best ranch. The ranch has a guide and they really cater to the youth hunters. We stayed at their cabin next to the mountains and a 10 to 15 minute walk to the hunting area. They told us we could hunt until my son got his bull even if he could only hunt the weekends because of school. That ranch has a 100% success rate for youth hunters. I have to figure out how to post pics. He did get a 5x5 on the second day.

Post the ranch name so the inquiring hunter can put in a request. Problem solved..
