-
That is my first choice tag, congrats! I was about 40 yards away from one today up there, it was a nice one! A pic of him is on my white river rut topic in the elk section. Steep country
-
Congrats nice tag! I have been up there many times and it's always a blast watching those goats up there.
-
Thinking of using my . 270???? On this Goat hunt,,,what are everyone's thoughts?
-
That will work fine .....
-
Congrats on getting my #1 choice :)
-

There was an Old Duffer by the name of Jack O'Conner that swore by the round. Ever hear of him?

Hunted it with rack attack in 2012. Awesome hunt. I hope I draw that some day. Saw tons of goats. Brutally steep country.
-
So jealous, I got many yrs till I'm close for drawing that tag. See a lot of goats up in that steep country, should have no problem getting er done on a big boy. Congrats
-
Yes I have and that is why I bring up the .270 and I shoot a 7 mm when it is necessary when I rifle hunt, but the first choice is always my Hoyt Carbon Element
-
AWESOME!!!
And as an added bonus, you'll some of the most beautiful country God ever made.

Great choice. That's what I used in 99 when I drew. Double lunged
A nice billy with federal 140 gr trophy bonded bear claw. IMO there
Isn't a tougher animal to put down pound for pound then a Mtn goat.
Make sure you ankor him good on your first shot. They have no
Problem doing a death dive off a steep mountain side.
-
Thanks Falcon,I have 140 grain handloads that ELKBURGER loads up for me and they do a great job! :hunter:
-
Next ? On these goats how well is the meat? I have read that it is good and I have read it is tough and gamey? From those of you that have eaten it what is your opinion?
-
I cut up a few goats harvested by friends from the area all I know is they said it was some of the best meat ever, the secret is as always keep it clean cool and dry
-
I have taken 2 Billy's.
Both were excellent eating.
-
Thanks Fella's I will look forward to hopefully some good table fare this fall!
-
Use your Hoyt!!!! They are often easy to get close to, but pack your 270 with you in case a bruiser billy appears. My next goat will be with a bow.
-
That was/is actually my plan, it is a long season and my first choice would always be to take an animal with my bow :archery_smiley:
-
Very do able with a bow ......
-
Any help on who has the best maps of this area, and where in the Spokane area a guy could purchase them would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
-
I am so jealous of all the oil tag holder's. No doubt you will get a goat, just enjoy every minute of it. the whole thing is going to go by to fast. have fun
-
Sent in my 332.00 for my goat tag today.... :whoo: will finally feel like this is real after putting in for 15 yrs once I get my packet from fish and game in hand!
-
Got my Goat Packet from WDFW today, so everything is done but the scouting and Hunting.... :archery_smiley: :hunter:

Get your boots ready Burger :cmp1:
-
The boots are always ready! Its everything above them that needs work :chuckle:
-
:yeah:

If Norse peak is in your unit, I have seen lots of goats and the walk isn't that bad. Had a nice billy at around 40 yards of me.
-
I think part of it is and where I've seen goats in there it's within his tag area.
-
Norse Peak is but only east of the PCT
