Should be a good hunt. I like that area, especially the walk down the Wenatchee Creek trail. I've sat up top in the evening and listened to the bulls bugling below, or maybe it was just you down there calling.

  Have fun, stay safe.

:yeah:  And if you think your in great shape work some more. I spent the entire season there minus a day and half to rest and I have never had knee problems in my life and it took me 5 months to quit feeling sharp pains in both knees and popping when squatting.

Oh those pics are deceiving this was a knife ridge and the cam was hung on a tree off the side about 7 ft high to be level with the salt  :chuckle:

Dont be scared to drop all the way to the bottom. The bottom half is where we encountered most of the elk. There isnt much easy about hunting there.

i maY have sat near where you took that pic and wondered what the hell i got myself into!
I know i wondered that while filtering water from wenatchee creek with huntnnw after trying to get to a bull that we couldnt physically get to.
Its a strange thing that i actually want a rematch down there with those elk... but this time with gunpowder and lead!  :chuckle:

Is that from the turnout near Lake ridge trail head? Had 3 different bulls talking from that spot one evening.

Nope.  This was taken from a finger off of Sawtooth Ridge looking Northwest.

Still getting it done at 49 years old Orin. And yes working out, i know what i"m getting into. Need to keep the run going on 5 quality tags filled in the last 7 years of calling and helping buddy's. ;)

Its going to be another fun hunt for you i'm sure turkeyman. I have been in there on bull hunts the last three years since I seen you guys in there on Brice's hunt. One thing I have learned is they do seem to like it down low a lot more then up high. It does seem to be a bit more cliffy down low makes things hard. Good luck

Thanks mtman cant wait for the challenge. Dont have to many more hunts in me like this. Yes 45 getting old, but if i'm going to die, in the bottom of that hell hole woud be a great place. ;)  It's a tuff hunt but if you work as a team and stay persistent you can make it happen.

You can work down the road from the corral and then sidehill it to roll your ankles and fall all the way to the Grand Ronde.

thats the ridge in the pic that goes off to monument ridge the north side of that in the bottom was really good, but the best place I found the whole hunt was in that pic on the left side of that pic in the distance in the very bottom there is bunch of trees that area was loaded with elk!!

this one is over the other side of lake ridge. Where the shade meets the sun in the bottom was a 350" bull I was after that day

Most mulies I've seen in there have been 4x4 with big bodies. The last time I saw anything larger was 20 years ago that bailed over the side off the 43 east of the Cloverland.  The last 10 years the whitetail have actually been moving into the canyons from the top.
Title: Re: Mt.View archery
Post by: MarkyMark on June 21, 2015, 04:12:16 PM
Yes. I see plenty of whitetail up there too. I've come home with one the last two years. I was selected for the 172 muzzy buck for that unit. Hoping to find a wayward mulie up there.

I've seen the same thing... 102 in Asotin and low 70's in the mountains.  Its great.  And if you want a mid day break from scouting head down to the Grande Ronde and take a swim and get a milk shake at Bogan's.

Would you guys recommend this tag? I have hunted in Dayton and Wenehas, but never ventured to that side of the blues. How rugged was it ? I sure love dropping in to bottoms and seeing elk everywhere.
