My sheep hunt last November we stayed at a place called Quality Inn, which was off exit 36 in Yakima. It was about the cheapest of anything else I could find, I think it was around $55/night. I was told later by Ric that it's not the safest part of the city. But I liked it because it was right off the freeway and the rooms had outside doors to the rooms so we could park just outside of our room and not have to carry things far.

It wasn't the fanciest motel, but it served the purpose. I don't like to spend much money on a motel room when all that's needed is a bed to sleep in for the night.

You could probably stay in Ellensburg as well.

The Sun Country Inn in Yakima is clean and around $65.

As for safe areas in Yakima....it's Yakima.

:yeah:We stayed there when we were drawn for our alkali deer tags, not too bad. And close to the gate.

We stayed at roza when I had the muzzy elk tag in 2010. If you end up staying there don't leave anything at your camp site when you leave for the day. We got all of are stuff jacked from that campground.

even your tent? I am planning to stay at big pine and theft of camp is a concern for me. If theres that much chance maybe ill just get a hotel.

I believe big pines has a summertime camp host so I would think that would take care of most theft there. It's usually nicer trailers camped in there so I think you would be good.
