Hello I got the manastash muzzy cow tag and was wondering if there was anyone out there that could point me in the right direction at least to get started as I am not really familiar with the area, please pm me with the info that would be awesome and I would greatly apriciate it, thanks for looking

I drew the same tag.
-
Well keep in touch Labs07 and we might be able to help eachother on our hunting quest, I will be mostly trying to get might dad a elk since he drew this tag too and he hasnt harvested an elk in over 25 years
-
I'll be there also. Had the tag last year and struck out. Been hunting there 26 years.
-
pm sent
-
Had the pleasure of meeting both labs07 and sled.. Good people.
I wish you all the best! If you hear a very loud scream over the ridge! Dont worry thats me.. BBD..
-
I would also like to get any information on the LT Murry Wildlife area, i just want to know if that has any restrictions
-
One more from the Wenatchee valley with this permit. Unfortunately, I drew 4th choice and will be starting from square 1 like yourself.
-
4 in our camp had that tag last year and we ate every one of them. None of us saw an elk in a week of hunting! Going back to modern this year. Hopefully be a little cooler!
-
Myself and a buddy both drew that tag aswell this year. Starting from scratch so at this point nothing to offer. I have never killed an elk so I'm really hoping to pop the cherry this year!
-
Well unless my boys go with me I will be solo this year for this tag so if anyone wants to join me I would welcome the company. If anyone wanted I have a 14 X16 foot wall tent with a stove that I would be happy to share with a couple of people. I usually camp in the campground but would be open to anyplace I can set up camp.

. I have the multi season elk tag. I may hunt some archery. I'll be over the hill from you, but if I'm there I'll help you out if you make the call👍
-
I already know that this year will be harder hunting than last. That said I'm sticking to the same plan as last year. Like everyone says steep and deep, with water. It's already so dry there.
-
The dates are 3-9 Oct. You are always welcome in my camp buddy!
-
Bring a quad.

I will be solo, White 2009 Dodge 1500 crew cab. I would hate for anyone to depend on me being there though, with my wife's health issues I may not show up, arrive late, or leave early - not exactly ideal for a hunt buddy!
-
Well for sure I will be up there for at least the first four days of the season I will be driving a 03 white nissan frontier so if I pass you flag me down I'd love to talk to anyone

Hey Beau, I will be across the road in the Colockum helping a buddy with his muzzy cow tag. If you are up there and need help with anything (like meat hauling) I won't be far away!
-
When you find your spot make sure you are in position and ready on opening morning! Other hunters will no doubt be in the same spot. You need to make the most of any chance you get! My buddy had this tag last year. We had no trouble finding elk prior to the season. The trouble was, as the last few days before the season passed, hundreds of hunters filed in and made camp with no regard for not molesting the elk prior to opening day. By opening day there were only a few left in the places we found them and they were run off first thing opening morning. It became a ghost town for elk after that. Good luck!

Whatever happened to Muzzynbow?
They are some great people, usually camp near Gooseberry flats August-November.
They usually got a fairly good handle on where the elk are, especially after spending 90 days every year there.

Still looking for any info that may help, thanks to everyone that has pm'd me or posted already

I ate that tag 13 years ago back before I knew what I was doing and back when I mistakenly hunted elk like Whitetail. Good luck to you I really enjoy that country.
-
There are elk all over the place in that unit...I live in it. If you get yourself in an area where you can see some country first thing on the morning and last thing at night you might be able to figure out where they are bedding down. I hunt muzzy and it can be tough depending on the weather. I've never struck out hunting water where there isn't much and keeping an eye on hard to reach areas from afar and then planning an ambush once they are found. I know it sounds simple because it is. It just takes a lot of patience.

I agreed with almost all you said, except the water thing... :dunno: I must have just hunted the right areas. No shortage of water in area.
