Was just curious. Its all I have put in for the last few years, and this year they added my favorite unit to the list of the quality buck permits connecting the early and late rifle seasons.
Anyone on here draw any of them?
-
No, I did not, but I was wondering the same thing! I applied for two units, only had 3 points, but still figured I had a chance. I thought not many people would use quality points on blacktail permits. Guess I was wrong!
-
Same here, I had 6 points in for it so I figured I stood a chance as well, esp for a unit that is hard to hunt without the Weyerhauser pass.
-
Yep, I also thought the Weyerhaeuser pass would reduce the number of applicants, but I guess not. My uncle also was in for the same two units, and didn't draw.

I looked at them draws and wondered how low a guy would have to be in points to even consider putting in for them. They looked interesting, but sitting on 14 quality points there was no way I'd have put in. Maybe after I burn my points on a mule deer tag I'll look that way.
I was surprised they didn't put them all in the buck category. It seemed like they just did 5xx in quality and 6xx in buck with out thought.
They would have gone well in the buck category I think.

Yes, I agree, they should be in the buck category. That would at least give me a reason to buy the application, and the WDFW would make more money, which is their main goal, it seems. Why even have the "buck" category if they're not going to use it for the hunts that belong there?

I think they made the Buck category just for the Palouse tag and then just tossed in some filler hunts just cause.
