Title: Grim reaper hybrid
Post by: WAPatriot on June 24, 2015, 07:37:11 AM
Thinking about switching from shuttle t s. Anyone have any thoughts on grim reaper hybrid? One serious concern I have with then is when you want to test them and shoot them into target how do you get them out of target.

They have practice broad heads you can get but the blades will fold back in when you pull them out.  I used them when I lived in Cali.  I will be using the razor ones.

Did they deploy and work well. Why the switch to razors from hybrids. I hear the razors have a delayed deployment.

Never used the hybrids.  They look nice but want to use what i know that works.  I seen them punch holes first hand through a front shoulder on a white tail and pass straight through with a bow drawing only 45 lbs.  Exit wound was about 3" across.  This  was my aunt in MN.

Razortip.  They used to have a Chisel tip that didn't have the blades in the tip.

i guess one of the issues with the razor tips is if your bow is a heavy draw arrow will punch threw without deploying especially on smaller animals. I kinda like the hybrids cause if the mechanical aspect of the broad head fails I will still have a good chance at recovering animal. I am still worried that blade will deploy mid flight and screw up shot. I dunno fixed have been killing animals for thousands of years

those blades hold tight.  My family in MN have been shooting them for years without any pre deployments.  Practicing with them and I haven't had any pre deployments either.

If you have doubt and concern just stay with a fixed blade.
