Got an e-mail from the Hunter Ed management informing me that if a budget deal was not reached by June 30, all hunter ed classes were to be cancelled as it is not an essential service. Reason; because instructors are "agents of the state".
WTF! Hunter Ed instructors are not paid, so why does it make a difference if we teach as long as we have the course material?
We may have to inform the students that their card may be delayed.
Only thing that makes even a lick of sense might be a lapse in instructor liability insurance coverage if that bill is not paid on time.
I would venture to guess that the main reason is to make as many people as possible, miserable till the budget is passed, so they can later point a finger and proceed with the ABC's (affix blame and criticise).
What a bunch of male bovine feces >:(

Interesting. Our next class isn't until the end of July so they better have it figured out by then. :bash:

Legislators did have time to give themselves a 11% pay raise, and many found the time to go to the US open last weekend.
That said they did approve a 2 year deal last night.

Ya, ain't that a piece of crap? Bill Montgomery, my Regional Coordinator told me about the "shut down" when he was out to monitor our June class. in one sock. Hopefully the Chosen Ones in Oly town will have their s*^# in one sock. Trying to reschedule that class will be tough.

Good to hear a deal was struck.
It's enough work as it is to set up and put on a class let alone having to cancel one.
I personally did not have a class scheduled for July, but I would have been down right pissed to have to cancel one.

Just to let you know, I talked with the Reg 6 coordinator and he told me it was because of the insurance....just in case there was an accident. Looks like it is a go for at least 2 more years.

Someone probably thought they could use the 50% FET money to be used for hunter education and target ranges for something else like the hiring of more love gurus. :o The grizzly bears will need some love too, don't you know :chuckle:
