Title: New Hunter Looking for help/mentorship
Post by: gropaga on July 15, 2015, 10:48:59 PM
New to the area and big game hunting in general.

About me:

30 years old. I've hunted ducks successfully in drought-ridden California. Own and am proficient with my 12-gauge and 30-06 Ruger American. Interested in any conservation activities in the area such as trail and watershed rebuilding; as preservation and continuation of the sport is just as important to me as getting meat. I'm based in Issaquah currently. I'm fit and have been training to pack out meat by loading my frame backpack with weights. During duck season, I've never been able to afford a boat, so I'm used to packing in my decoys and blind equipment. I have a mid-size suv for transport as well.

I just spent the last two weekends crawling around the public access hunting spots in GMU 272 (Beezely) and a portion of 2014 Central Okanogan. I intend to be out every weekend I can to be ready when season begins.

I would really appreciate some help regarding scouting and what to expect when the rains and snow rolls in here in Washington. If anyone is willing to take me on some scouting or show me some basics that would be fantastic.

Sincerely,
Matthew
