Out of stater here bringing my son on his first week long pack-in hunt in the Alpine Lakes area. So far I've had some great dialogue with a few guys from this site who have been incredible helpful. I've done the internet scouting, list checking, gear buying, etc... The hard thing to scout on GoogleEarth is the status of the berries....any input? (any input at all about the Alpine Lakes area is appreciated) Thanks.

All reports I've gotten from quite a few guys is that berries are early, smaller than normal, but plentiful in the 4500-5500ft elevation range.

Thanks.

Alpine Lakes is a big area, which area are you looking at i.e what creek or lake or trail you are hiking too? I was up there today scouting, let me know where you want to hunt and I can give more specifics. Lot of camp areas closed due to fire danger... Where I was it was rainy and foggy early morning but opened up and was pretty sweet. Berries came early this year but lots up there, small patches and berries but they are there. PM me questions and I will try to help.
