The kids really look forward to fishing pinks/silvers off of the beaches of the island and I've heard the pinks may be showing early this year. As far as I can tell, the pass opens August 1st and the west side opened July 1st? Is it true that fish are showing already? Seems like it was mid August before they showed 2 years ago.

I am interested in this as well, I am camping there around the 20th hope to hook into some if they are around

3nails,
Pinks are everywhere in the islands, including Bham Bay and even in the nutsack,Heard a fella did a Recon mission with a sled and had 4 humpy encounters. The run must be early or huge or both.Todays fishin mission at Baker lake got us 6 chromer fresh to the lake sockeyes in the cooler and 4 that were long range released and 4 other biters but no hooky hooky.Shoulda coulda wooda on the limit for us today. They are resting quietly in brine for the smokehouse.

Pinks were in pretty good today at Midchannel, so gotta think they are across the way at Whidbey too. Still not peak season numbers - didn't see big schools or anything, unlike further north and west - but we hit six on one rod trolled at pink depths in about two hours this am. Unfortunately couldn't buy a king bite on the other rod.

Nice on the sockeye! No way on earth I'm touching one of those nasty Nooksack pinks. Some salty ones on the beach I'll smoke and can though.
