Tomorrow is a good day, picking up my meat at the butcher from the deer I shot on Christmas Eve morning. Just curious what you guys pay. Mine was just about 95lbs on the hook. I had 15 lbs of pepperoni and 15 lbs of summer sausage and the rest were general cuts. Total cost was about 210. Got it done at butcher boys in Puyallup. How does that compare to others?

That seems pretty reasonable. I do all of my own except sausage and it seems like I pay alot when I have that and pep sticks done.

Nothing, I do all of it.. much more fun that way

Yeah I do all mine too, even the pep sticks. Can't trust those butchers now days !!

I do all my own sausage etc. . I started this about 4 yrs ago, so far I think I've done pretty good. I make a killer teriyaki jerky as well. I can't remember the guys name in Enumclaw where my brother goes but his is absolutely the BEST pepperoni I have tasted.

I have heard good things about the place in Enumclaw. I may have to try them sometime. For those of you who do your own do you think you end up with more or else then whent the butcher does it. Just curious which is more efficient

I had mine done at Olsen's in Enumclaw and the bill was $ 75. Only got extra hamburger with suet, nothing else. FYI. Mike

we have always done our own for as long as i remember. then a couple years back my dad had his deer cut up by a butcher (they will remain nameless incase the rumor is not true). later one of the girls that worked there got fired and she told me that they hardly ever give you your actual deer, elk, etc meat back...if they have said animal meat in stock they just mix and match if the cuts are already there in stock.
so needless to say weather that is true Or not. we started cutting up our own deer again. my mom is a wizard with a knife and does the best job taking care of the meat.

Idk about efficiency but I do know that I dont have to pay anyone to do it!.......and I do know exactly how all the meat was treated! know how I like it! boned out with all fat gone!! which I figure most butchers do though also....biggest factor for me is that it cost me no money

I wonder if anyone had their meat at Silvana Meats during the flood and if they lost any? :yike:

Me to, my Uncle showed me how to butcher a deer when I first started hunting and have never taken an animal in to get cut up. Same with making sausage and pepp sticks.
