Hey all! This year is the year my lil girl took the idea of hunting seriously and set to be a legal hunter in mid August (age 12). I'm now looking into her youth options and quickly noticed I know nothing about the areas she will have access to. We will be hunting modern and I know the Wenatchee/Chelan area...but not Spokane or east units.
Can anyone hit me up with a PM or point me to any information about the youth area options? Looks to be all around Spokane but i don't know the area and won't have the ability to scout it out. Are we road hunting? Is it tough to find areas to camp? Should we plan for long hiking days?
Anything to get us on the right path to a fun father/daughter hunt is appreciated.

I have been asking me the same question and even asked a game warden but no one seems to know. So far all I have found that are advantages are trying to win Youth Special Permit Applications and discount tag and license prices.
They really should have a small space like 100+ acres just for youth hunting.

Look at page 19 of the 2015 hunting reg's. At the bottom of the page is "Youth General Seasons."
Almost all of region 1 is open for antlerless whitetails. That's a great opportunity, and probably where I'll take my daughters when they're old enough to hunt deer.

this is what we did when my son was 8 and have continued since- He is old enough for mt and Id now so we mainly hunt here but still will go over for a day or two in Washington. Any of the northeast units that have the any deer season for youth is a good hunt(especially if she wants to shoot a doe) you shouldnt have any problem. Have your daughter ask some landowners for permission they seem way more likely to grant permission to a cute kid! I dont know about camping. We found lots of road you could drive and do some glassing from the road, do some hiking, some sitting you will find deer.

I'd bet a $1 that if you ask there has got a be a forum member or two that can hook you up on a nice doe for her. Best of luck to her.

RTspring would help, I'm sure of it. PM him.

Thanks Bobcat and Idaho Guy...good info. I had already read the regs and knew about the region from that aspect...just don't "know" the area. ;)
She doesn't care whether its a buck or a doe...she asked me what I thoughts and all I said was "Grand-dad said to only shoot doe cause they taste better". "I don't have that option and you do, so let's just take the first legal deer you can wherever we are".
Really just want her to have a positive hunting experience first time out.

If he's willing to travel to Spokane then I can for sure help the lil one a doe! My son just passed Hunter Education (8years old) and I am going to take him for a deer. He said he wants a buck though.

:yeah: Another offer from the Spokane area here. If you make it over this far shoot me a message I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.

Boom...done. Take one of those guys up on the offer. Drive over in the morning, get settled in...take her out to the field that evening and get set up. She should have a chip shot on a tasty doe, field dress it and debone, pack meat in cooler, stay the night, easy drive home. Get home, jump online, post pics of happy hunter with blood on her cheeks.

It's looking like we most likely will be in the Spokane area for opening season. I'm trying to get in contact with an old friend that has property in GMU124. My hunting partner just turned 65 this year so he wants to exercise his antler-less option too. ;)
If I can't connect with this friend of mine, I'll hit the options up in this thread to connect and we'll get my girl a deer. Much appreciated!
