I hate the wheels on my pickup. They're garbage chromed aluminum, the chrome is peeling and the junk Schwabbies tires howl like a baying hound dog! So I bought a set of aluminum wheels with 'ok' tires on CL. The wheels are 18x9.5 and currently has 265/70's on them. 265/70's are spec'd for 7-9" wheels. They fit fine, look like they've worn fine, and are similar height than my current 285/75R16s. So I go looking for new Michelin A/T2s or M/S2s around 33" tall. 265/70's spec'd 7-9", 275/70's spec 7-8.5" wheel, and 285/65 spec 8-10"
WHY IS THE 275/70 ONLY SPEC'D FOR SUCH A NARROW WHEEL?!?! :bash: :bash:
And why do Michelin's have to be so expensive?! Tire Rack does sell the M/S2 in 265/70 for $186 a piece, but then they drop another $17.96 for delivery!
I've been rolling over the options for a couple days now...
Michelin LTX 265/70R18 AT2 32.6” 7-9” wheel
$250 (Tire Rack) $1000 PLUS $19.30 per tire delivery
$260 (Costco) $1039 PLUS $15 per tire
MS2 $186 (Tire Rack) $744.92 PLUS $17.96 per tire delivery
275/70R18 MS2 33.2” 7-8.5” wheel
$233 (Tire Rack) plus their delivery fee
AT2 $260 (Tire Rack) plus their delivery fee
285/65R18 AT2 32.6” 8-10” wheel
$272 (Amazon Prime)
AT2 $259 (Tire Rack) plus their delivery fee

Pretty much every tire sales outlet on earth with a couple exceptions does the meet or beat/low price guarantee. Trouble is, they won't honor the mail order places because you still have to pay shipping and installation so they're really no cheaper at that point. I'd offer a low price guarantee to you if I could get those tires but I'd tack on $20 per tire when it's an online purchase because you have to pay shipping.
I'd do these for you, for example, for $206 a piece plus install $19.95 each, but that's at my normal price at that point.
MS2 $186 (Tire Rack) $744.92 PLUS $17.96 per tire delivery

Also, don't forget with Tire Rack you have to go to one of their installers if you're paying ahead for install. At least that's the way it used to work. We were an installer at one time years back. It's a giant PITA to work with them.

Discounttires.com
Free shipping and no sales tax. That's where I buy all of my tires from. Then I pay to have a local tire dealer install them..

Call the 800 number. My tires aren't on there either.

How are you not paying sales tax when Discount has brick and mortar stores in state?

Don't ask me. I'm not the owner of Discount Tire. :dunno:

2 things
18 in tires are more expensive than other rim sizes standard "Bigger wheels" seem to be 20" or 17" Id never own an 18"
Michelin Tire spends about 2x as much on R & D as its next competitor. Goodyear spends 2.3% of its gross sales and Mich Does about 5%. BFG is a Mich owned brand. Michelin is a premium tire and they arnt scared to ask you to pay for it.

I agree on the 18's I'd never own them due to the cost of tires for that rim size. 17's are much cheaper and look just as good. I bough some cooper stt pros from commercial tire and the prices were good. This is a totally different tire than what you are looking for though.

I think the Costco tire store have Michelins if that's what you're after.
-
I have 275/70 CooperAt3s on 18" x 9" wide aftermarket wheels and they mounted up just fine, even though the tire is rated for up to an 8.5" wide wheel.

Most tires can be mounted on a slightly narrower or wider wheel provided you dont work them too hard. If you going to work a tire to capacity then you want exactly what they tell you to use. :twocents:

Tirebuyer.com had the best prices I found for my new 17" BFG All Terrain TA/KO 2s. IMO this is a hard tire to beat at any price, even with overpriced Michelins. Kind of like paying $100 for jeans, you look fancy but for $50 you can get tha same thing. Not sure if Tirebuyer offers Michelin or not or if the BFG is offered in the size you are looking at.
