Title: Area 7 report
Post by: tbonewwu on August 20, 2015, 07:51:18 AM
Headed out this weekend.  Been a month or so since I have been able to get out.  Going to find some big KINGS, but I have heard some coho have been seen and are the pinks still around?  Thanks Guys!

Went to Eagle Point yesterday.  Heard a couple people mention Coho, but not much for them.  We have been hooking lots of 8-12 inch Chinook but also hooked two bigger ones.  Unfortunately a Stellers sea lion decided he should have one of them and grabbed it before we could get it up.  A thousand pound animal sure puts up a hard fight on a downrigger rod....   >:(  We got the head.   :bash:  We did land another though at 16 pounds and a friend in another boat caught one about 18.  Landed the rest of the limit of pinks.

Thanks lokidog.  We are headed to eagle point and the outside tomorrow (From Bham).  I'll take a 10lb nookie any day...  I had a lion take a king this year once already, had to cut my line  :bash.... so I am bring a bucket of rocks for some ammo.  :chuckle:  :  should be a nice day on the water either way.

Headed out Sunday after some fuel pump issues Saturday and slayed some kings.  Took 10 hours but got our 3.  22lb, 18, and this 14lber.  Eagle point and Pile point.  lots of boats and great weather.  My son came out and got to bring in 3 pinks and even help with my king.  I got me a new fishing buddy for life.

yeah, I saw it was a bit sloppy out there.  My neighbor headed out today.  Anxious to see how he did.  Taking this weekend off to take my wife out for out anniversary, but planning on getting out on labor day weekend.  Hopefully the upcoming rain we are suppose to get will move some more fish in.

Hit Presidents channel on Friday and Obstruction Pass on Saturday. One pink and some shakers in Pres Channel fishing deep. Obstruction had a ton of bait but couldn't buy a bite.

This rain should have the fishing moving towards the rivers.   I think we are headed over to Guemes on Saturday (Indian Village) see if we can find a few kings headed to the Samish.  maybe some coho will be headed north too.  Tides look decent for a morning fish.  I am running out of fishing days so got to try and put a few more in the freezer.

Labor day Salmon.... Got a late start.  Through out some pots (only got 2 crab in 7 hours of soaking  >:()  Got my nephew his first king, about 1 hour in.  All down hill from there.  After that we got our downrigger balls tied together about 80ft down.   The tide was running so hard the ended up looping each other on a turn.  So we lost 2 flasher setups and 1 down rigger ball/clip.  Then got back to the launch and had the strap break on the crank.  had to jimmy rig that to get the boat on the trailer.  25 year old boat and trailer and it s a BOAT so maintenance, maintenance, maintenance....  oh well, in my limited action I haven't been skunked yet this year.  I'll get my strapped and rigger fixed and a new ball and be back out soon.

headed out from maybe the last salt water trip of year on Sunday before I shift my focus to the woods.  Thinking of hitting up Reef PT on the ebb see if we can find a late king or some hatch coho!

Got 2 ho's 8lb and 6lbs yesterday.  Not a bad season.  Boated at least 1 fish per trip out. Time to shift my focus to the woods.

I found one in my front yard yesterday.  :yike:

Darn birds must have dropped it there as it had claw marks on its sides, just can't figure out why they didn't puck it back up. :dunno:
