Title: Fischer Meats Experiences
Post by: Orion81 on August 20, 2015, 09:58:35 PM
Hi HW,

I did a search on the site, but didn't turn up much info.  Does anybody have a positive or negative review of Fischer Meats in Issaquah for game processing?  I live in Maple Valley.  I saw the great post listing all game processors. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.

I had some pepperoni made there once about 10 years ago or so and it was inedible.  The worst I have have ever tasted.  Stay away from Linds also near you.  Their pepperoni was also horrible and they ripped me off, keeping half my meat I believe.  I now make my own or if I can get it there, Silvana meats.

I've never used them but do know that if they are taking game it won't end up as good as if you do it yourself.

If your looking for wild game processing near Maple Valley. I would stop by Linds Meats. He is only 5 minutes from Maple Valley and does the best work around. If you want to sample his stuff, swing into the Maple Valley farmers market and give it a try. Free samples but I bet you walk away with some meat!

I've always been happy with everything I've bought from Fischers.  I'm not sure if they take any wild game there I would just give them a call.  As far as my wild game goes I take everything to Linds Meats. Mike does a great job and I don't believe for a second the previous comment, "they kept half my meat I believe" If you didn't like your pepperoni, fine...that's your opinion and fact...but to say you "believe" they kept your meat is an ignorant comment. Sounds like you should just continue to do it yourself.  I would be confident in either place Orion81.

Also Mike at Linds will let you come in and wrap your own game as he cuts it!! You know exactly what you are getting back.

I stopped in a couple years ago right before my Sept. elk hunt, he said they were not taking in game but didn't offer up any info. seemed a bit weird as I left, but their landjager is awesome.

My experience with Fischer has always been great.  I am not sure if they have it anymore, but years past they had elk jerky that was amazing.  I regularly stop by for beef jerky.

I have never had anything processed there.

They will usually take wild game unless it's close to Thanksgiving because they don't have the room with all the turkey/hams/etc. they sell for the Holidays.

I have taken several animals there over the years.  Last year I took a moose and deer.

Summer Sausage is great.  Jerky ok (I like mine salty but they don't add much spice if at all) but you can also get the peppered jerky.  As someone mentioned, I don't care for their pepperoni.   I did have some Italian and German brats made that are amazing.  Overall, good experience but they get busy so you need to call ahead of time to make sure they have availability.

Another thumbs up to for Fischer here! I have had 2 elk done there in the last few years and I have been pleased with both. I'd rate both their pep and jerky as excellent! However, like with any butcher, I only take in what I want to be turned in to jerky, pep and ground. Last time I was there I tried to tip the kid who hauled my stuff out to my truck, he said "thanks, but keep it." Good service IMO!

I have  lived  in Maple Valley for 30 years and have tried all the local shops for butchering my game.  For almost 10 years I have been going to Olson's Meats and smokehouse in Enumclaw for processing my deer and elk, they have always done an excellent job, you should check out their website.  olsonsmeatsandsmokehouse.net

I live in Issaquah and take my wild game to Fischer's.  They are expensive but that is only because this is the big city.  It is expensive to run a business.  Always very satisfied with their work.  Someone might have been told they are not taking wild game now because the locker is full.  I was told they will hang your skinned animal carcass in the cooler until you come and take it home to butcher yourself.  Just called ahead and see if the locker is full.

We took 3 deer there few years. It was terrible! I don't  know what they did, but everything they made was terrible.
I've tried linds on a few elk. It was ok, but wasn't supper impressed. They left a lot of fat in the steaks.
The past 2 years I've gone to golden steer in Bellevue of all places.  Best I've ever had.
If I get more than one animal, I don't have time to process it.

Ficher meats is the best. High quality products for a reasonable price. The only time they might not take an animals is the monday after deer opener, or right before thanksgiving. Actually they will still take it if its boned and quartered. Its a nice resource and very convenient.

Funny this thread came back to life....
By 3rd day we had 3 deer and golden steer was full and Fischer was only one with space. I took the deer there and talked with management about my concerns. They informed me things have changed and I would be happy.
I got the deer back. Price was what I expected. About $500. So far all Ive had is some pepperoni sticks and they turned out good.
Maybe I have another option for a butcher again.

Another vote for Lind's awesome pepperoni mike is a real nice guy just don't take in a dirty animal and make sure you are willing to clean off what you don't want to eat.

Lind's cut and wrapped my Elk last year also had them make 25 lbs of medium hot breakfast sausage.  Very happy with their work and quality.  Great customer service on the drop off and traffic sucked on my way to pick it up, they stuck around after closing and waited for me to pick up. If I'm fortunate again this year to tag out they'll get my business.
