Title: I'm looking for a 10mm pistol, stryker fired, no safety...
Post by: 6.8mmARHunter on August 24, 2015, 10:05:44 PM
As the subject indicates, I'm looking for a 10mm pistol, stryker fired, no safety...

All I'm seeing is the Glock 20 (or 29). Am I missing something?. Is there anything else along those lines that anyone knows of?

Thanks in advance.

I've never researched it in depth but of the 10mm pistols I can think of currently manufactured all of them are hammer fired expect for the Glock.

Man love my glock gen3 40cal. The only thing that made me steer away from 10mm was ammo availibility but maybe it's easier to find than I thought. I recommend the glock 10mm though!

Variety is almost always the spice of life, unless the only one available happens to embody the majority of the features that most desire and is also thought to be totally reliable.  It then also allows us that rare and unique opportunity where we don't need to fret and ponder over so many choices as us 'gun nuts' tend to do.

That other manufacturers aren't offering a striker fired, no 'external' safety, 10mm should also be very telling.....IMO.  Even if another manufacturer did offer a striker fired, no 'external' safety 10mm, the first thing most of us would do would be to compare it to the Glock 10mm prior to deciding which to purchase.

In this instance and IMO, you are spared the homework and you still end up with the best that may ever be offered in a striker fired, no 'external safety, 10mm........ ;).

Get ahold of theskybuster.  He has your gun.  http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,180591.0.html

I bought a sidearm off him last year and the gun was solid, and he met up on time as agreed.  Id do business with him again no hesitation.

Soon the Glock 40 MOS will be available more readily... how soon nobody knows.

Thanks guys. The Glock 20SF looks pretty appealing. The 40 MOS does as well (especially with the optic), but the 6" barrel is a little long for my liking.

Just a little background here... I recently picked up a S&W Shield 9mm and it carries nicely. I was wanting to pick up something larger with the same manual of arms. I've been thinking of Black Bear hunting with a pistol for several reasons. Currently my Modus operandi is sitting on the edge of a clearcut with the electronic caller and waiting. I think a 10mm shooting within 25 yards, and maybe out to 50 yards would work.  The Glock 20SF in 10mm seemed to fit the bill.

Another aspect is my current weapon choices are 870 12ga, 6.8mm AR or .458 SOCOM AR. Those are good choices out to 100 yards with the 870 and maybe 200 with either of the rifles, but the down side is that all three of those tend to freak out the greenies that I run into at trailheads etc... I'm thinking the Glock 20 could hide in the backpack till I'm out of range of the tree huggers.

I had known of the Glock, and the S&W DAO's and the various 1911's. I'm kind of a buy American guy, and I was hoping there was a American - Stryker Fired, No Safety, 10mm. I guess not. I'm probably going to pick up the Glock.

That and I just wanted to buy a big Pistol and who can fault me for that... lol...

10 mm ammo is hard to find and when you find it it is spendy.    mike w

I have that exact gun, RIA 1911 A-1 Tactical. It's my cross chest holster, carrying gun when riding my ATV/wolf hunting in Idaho. Love that gun. I have 2 spare mags, so I have 25 rounds, 1 in the chamber, of hell to unleash if necessary.

Hard to beat the Glocks. I have one and love shooting it. 10mm ammo is not hard to find. I can get FMJ rounds pretty much anywhere and the high power stuff can be ordered from many sources.
