Title: Green Mountain 5051 Question
Post by: Wahoo on January 14, 2009, 01:53:59 PM
I have a permit for the Green Mountain unit (5051) starting on the 17th and was wondering if anybody out there who may be in the area or is hunting the muzzleloader permit that is currently open in that area could tell me how the unit was affected by the flooding. A surprise family event kept me from going on my planned scouting trip last weekend and these recent floods really have me wondering how the elk have responded and any areas that might be inaccessible now. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks,

Due to my hunting partner getting sick we only made it down for the day on Sunday. Floods didn't seem to affect the area nearly as much I was expecting. Saw a group of 14 bulls first thing in the morning (only happens when carrying a antlerless only permit). Didn't see anything else the rest of the day until 10 min after legal shooting time had ended when we saw a group of 15 cows. One unfortunate finding during the day was a couple of our areas (which we didn't have many to start with) have been destroyed by recent logging.

We are heading back down this coming weekend and I would be very grateful if anybody has any general areas they would recommend taking a look at. Thanks,
