Thought it would be fun to share what we all did wrong and got busted by elk this season.
Today was my first day out for elk this season. I only got to hunt from 5:30pm-dark I went to one of my spots I thought had a good chance at having elk in it seeing tons of fresh sign I sat down to wait it out until dark. I waited waited and waited some more, then as I decided I probably couldn't shoot anymore stood up and took a few steps away from the tree I was sitting under.
As I got into the open I noticed a few "white rocks" that I didn't recognize in the field. I picked up my binoculars and looked at two cows on the very edge of my field at dark. Not knowing what to do and standing out in the open I tried to crouch but the cows bolted up into the woods where they came from.
Hoping there is a 3pt or larger bedded in the field in the am!
