Absolutely.. Have taken that shot and the bull expired in 45 yards. To each his own, but I'll take that shot anytime it's offered.

Blow him a kiss and send it.
He'll turn or take the arrow over the heart.
Freezer full either way.

Absolutely and,  I practice that shot on the GlenDel full rut buck out to 25.   Beyond that distance I am not so confident. Made the mistake of passing on it once before at 15 yds and never will again.

Shoot or Don't Shoot?

Nice bull.  I'd let it rip.  The new bows, arrows and sighting allows for the arrow to drop right in, as long as I'm confident of yardage.

Dead bull. Have shot two bulls like that and one went twenty yards and the other 150 or so. Both were dead in a matter of seconds. 500 grain arrow with a snuffer ss is the ticket for me.

I have taken that shot. Once on a spike bull and once on a bear. Both at 20 yards. The bear is on the wall and the spikes skull I s in my skull pile in the barn

That close as he took a step to turn I would let it go.  I have gotten two with that method and it works. Never lost an elk with that technique.

Yes!  I did this shot on a bear as well, mine was at 10 yards though and I was below him.  Arrow came out in front of his off side leg... and that was almost thirty years ago with a much inferior bow to what I shoot now.

I'd wait if he was a bit more sideways though.

I just passed on that shot last Sunday. Had a bull at 30 yards looking right at me. Passed that shot and then tried for a 40 yard broadside shot. Missed that shot as it was more like 44-45 yards. So, given the chance to have a do over I still am not sure I would have taken the frontal shot. 20 yards and inside I would have though.

30 yards or less I would take it in a heartbeat.  Have to know where to put it though folks.

Reminds me of this shot, Looks pretty fatal to me..  :dunno:
Probably one of the quickest deaths I've ever seen on a bow kill.

Personally I have always passed on that shot in the past but I have since seen that shot taken a few times and never once has the bull gone more than 40yds.

I would say it depends on the environment/conditions.  No matter how confidant a bowhunter is in their abilities and accuracy, there is always a good chance that, when faced with this type of situation, adrenaline can play a role and cause the shot to go awry on account of torque that is placed on the grip.

I think that given that undeniable human flaw, a hunter should look at the immediate scenery and judge his/her ability to track well.  Because if that frontal shot isn't PERFECT, then you are tracking.

Rifle All Day. Bow only inside 25 yards, 25 plus letting him turn broadside or letting him walk.

I have found two dead bulls that went wasted with the arrow right between the front leg bone and the ribs.  That shot can be very deadly if put in exactly the right spot but pretty easty to mess it up and waste an animal.  People have different levels of acceptable risk.

At one of his seminars I talked with Jason Phelps about this, he said its his favorite shot, deadly as hell if you know where to put the arrow.  He practices a ton and knows where to aim, I would need more practice to take the shot.  After practice and knowing exactly where to shoot, I'd shoot no problem.

In my personal opinion the kid in that video got extremely lucky if you look at the arrow angle he took the frontal shot from a very poor angle.  Did it work...absolutely but that doesn't make it a shot that is advisable.   If you practice know where to aim and are comfortable with the risks associated with the frontal shot take it.  But I hate to see guys get talked into taking the shot because it worked for someone else.  There's a ton of videos on YouTube showing 1000+yard rifle kills doesn't mean it's a good idea for everyone.  Be realistic with your ability  and shoot accordingly.

I agree that the kid got super lucky. I would take the correct frontal shot. He has to be slightly angled so it can go in to the side of the sternum and come out the far side behind the leg, taking the jugular, piece of the heart, and piece of the lungs.  The kid hit way to high and far to the right, just got uber lucky.

As is said before though, this is one of my favorite shots. Usually dead in a very short distance. With a rifle they are DRT every time.
