Linds meats located in Kent is bar none the best butcher I have been to I highly recommend these guys to work your game or cattle I just brought my elk and deer in there they do the highest quality work I have seen.... Great people to work with as well

Crown Foods in Spokane is my favorite butcher. Been going their for 20 years! Family owned and operated. Very friendly people and at an affordable  price!

I used Linds one year and they did good work. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Done all my others myself. Always satisfied with that work :chuckle:

For summer sausages, pepperoni sticks, brats and jerky nothing better than Rober's Roost in Ellensburg.

My wife loves Linds pepperoni sticks when I tell her it is beef. But the venison pepperoni from around here that's another story. :bash:

Thompsons was till they let my deer mold and a perfect steer tastes like a bull. :bash: A steer from the Chelan County Fair this year went to Moses Lake so we will see.

A big second vote on Lind's. I took my critters to several butchers over the years. I haven't taken them anywhere else after Lind's. They give great advice, partly to make their job easier and part to help hunters better prepare the game for butchering. I have been lucky I guess, never suspected all my meat didn't make it to me.

In my neck of the woods I prefer Stacy's Custom Meats in Ephrata.  My brother has a severe pork allergy and I never have to worry about cross contamination with the meat I bring home.  They're super friendly, helpful and they make an awesome venison breakfast sausage!! :tup:

I've been going to Lind's for 28 years, I think he owes me a free one.  :chuckle: He must be doing something right as the locker is always full. Jalepeno cheddar pep sticks rock!

Another vote for Lind's i had the last animal i had professionally butchered there and it was best experience with a butcher i have had so far.The jalapeno pepperoni is awesome  :drool:

I got big time shorted by Linds the only time I used them.  And I had to throw their pepperoni away.  It was garbage.  Sorry, but if anyone thinks their pepperoni is the best, you've been eating low grade dog food your whole life.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience with them that sucks  :sry: But my experience was great and i would share your sentiments about anyone who truly likes Oberto pepperoni :chuckle: I have eaten enough pepperoni in my life to know what is good and what is not.

Only been to Linds once and it wasn't even my animal. A friend asked if I'd help him wrap an Elk cause this butcher offered a discounted price if you set an appointment and wrapped while they cut. My bud had to pack two bulls shot about 30 seconds apart out of the eagle cap wilderness and much of the harvesting took place in the dark. After breaking out the tubs of meat Mike Lind decided to yell and berate my friend and scold him cause the meat was a bit dirty in some places.

Sorry but that's all it took for me to decide that I would never give that guy a dime of my money and so I haven't ... That was about 15 years ago!  :)

Wasn't that impressed. I was shorted and the steaks had a lot of fat left on them.
I won't go back to linds. The only place worse was Ficher in issuaquah.
Hands down best place I've been to is golden steer in Bellevue. Last 5 animals have gone there.

Yeah I was surprised too and to be honest my description of how he reacted was tame ... he actually freaked out and yelling in front of his brother and other customers as well as me and my buddies dad! One of those situations that was very uncomfortable and he wasn't even yelling at me. I didnt think it was a big deal since getting some dirt on meat in the dark is easy to do and nothing that any of us try to do on purpose, theres more to the story on why some of it got more dirt on it ...( Like a Bobcat getting on it and dragging backstraps and neck meat away in between trips) but he could have at least asked what happened?  :dunno: He acted like he'd never seen a piece of dirty game meat in his life!!! I guess first impressions do mean everything and I wasnt impressed so I vowed never to use him and he lost out on at least 15-20 animals for me over the last 15 years because of it. He was one of the closest butchers to my house and I would drive all the way to Graham to avoid using him  :)

We had them do a steer for us.  It is a clean facility.  They were not extraordinarily friendly or helpful, like Mt. View Meats in Tacoma.  I like the way Del Fox packaged, but the cuts were better at Mt. View.  I also like B&E Meats in Des Moines.

Same here with Silvana meats. Either shorted meat (beef) and or the steak cuts didn't match. When I would open a package of steaks the bone pattern, fat amount and muscle color sometime wouldn't match with other steaks... hummm. We are good friends with a guy that used to butcher for Silvana, he'll be butchering and cutting our steers and hogs for us this year and his cousin will hang them in his cooler for as long as we want, not just a week like most places. As far as wild game, we cut and or grind our own stuff, it's fun.

for the record, I still shop at Silvana meats. They do have great products and many people are happy with their experiences there. I just don't have anything cut and wrapped there anymore.

 :chuckle: OK try and keep ALL dirt and hair out of a butcher shop and let me know how that goes for you?  The point is that dirt and hair are part of the deal when you decide to be a butcher and I can assure there is dirt and hair in Linds shop at some point or another! Look none of us want dirty meat either and when all things work out as planned there isn't ... but there are also those times when it is unavoidable (like a bobcat dragging away some meat in the dark)  ;) I have worked with several butchers over the years and all of them are very understandable about the fact that stuff happens sometimes and it really isn't a big deal to rinse, wash or trim away what shouldn't go through a grinder. What's not acceptable for me is a butcher acting out and yelling at customer because of it  :twocents: It lost him business from me over the years and my friend never went back either .... and BTW we have both had some very clean animals over those years!   ;)

yes dirt and hair can and will get on some of the meat in the field, that's why I clean and trim every single piece when I get home and put it in a clean cooler before I take it to him. Never is there ANY dirt or hair on the stuff I take him. It's not his job to clean a customers meat.

I do most of mine myself because I like to know 100% that it's mine with no doubts and I have 100% control over the process. However there's just some things that the butchers do so much better like pep, cheddar dogs, summer sausage etc.

I've used B&E Meats in Des Moines and Bellevue and they are AWESOME! You get your meat back and they do a hell of a job. It ain't cheap for some of the specialty stuff and in October they take a little bit longer to get it back to you but they are great finished product.

I never said it was his job this is more about his response! He has the facility with a back room a sink and a table and in about 15-20 min tops we had cleaned the parts in question. Back then we didn't have the set up like we do now and quite frankly after a night of packing and an 10 hour drive and warm weather there are instances where getting it to a cooler is of greater importance than sitting on your back porch picking each piece of grass, dirt and hair of the meat. It really wasn't that big of a deal for us the response was way over the top considering the circumstances ... And if I remember right my friend had said while we were in the back preping it that he had told Mike I was a bitch of a pack out in the dark and he couldn't say if the meat was in perfect condition ... Mike told him to just bring it in and we'd sort it out, that's why the response took us by surprise, who knows? Maybe he was just having a bad day.  :dunno:

I haven't been there since I moved over to the east side but we always took our meat to the butcher at roses iga in Buckley. Always did a good job and had fair prices.

HAHA yea Mike can be a little Anal when it comes to keeping your meat clean. Got to remember yours probly isnt the first dirty one he has gotten. Im sure its gets old. If you like dirt and hair in your meat im sure he will be glad to grind it right in for ya. I also wouldnt want my clean anamal laying on a shelf after your meat was there. Hanging it home a spend an hour picking it clean and wash it up before you bring it to him and you wont have a problem.  One thing i like about mike is he wheels your animal out right in front of you and proceeds to butcher it up. So you always now your getting your meat. Not sure how you guys are getting shorted this way.......

Reading some experiences here i feel good doing it myself even if it takes 3 nights in a row of just cutting and grinding meat.
