Has anyone been doing good at vernita up to priest? I've been out a few times and new to this fishery. Should I go down river? What's a typical setup? I've been running a superbait on 4' leader with 10 ounce lead. Am I doing it right?

Should work fine, where exactly are you fishing, are you hitting bottom them cranking it up a couple feet also? Might want to try running a diver and eggs too. I'd concentrate shallower during first light until 9 or so, then once the bite dies, fish deeper if you stop getting bites in the shallower water.

I've been fishing what they call the king hole. Must of it is 50'. No I have not been letting it hit bottom and then reel up a few cranks. Is there better fishing above king hole?

My preference is to fish below the bridge at the pipe hole/punchbowl area. Every boater is different, some will only fish certain areas, I know of guys that will only fish the pipe hole area, others that will go above and only fish the hatchery hole and so on. When the fish are really in there, the king hole should be alright. If I fish the king hole I fish the upper part of it in 25-35 foot of water early in the morning then move out to deeper water in the afternoon. The hatchery hole is up above the king hole/ power line hole and can be productive for some. We tried to fish it this year on our annual trip for every morning and didn't do good, other boats did. Then there's the lava hole above that too but I've never fished it but I know people do well there too. I haven't fished it this late for a couple years, we try to plan our trip the 2nd week of September so we don't have to wait an hour to launch the boat haha. If you're fishing that 50 foot of water and you're using multiple rods, I would put two of them more towards the bottom and if you have other rods put them at different depths or off a diver instead of a weight. If you head up to the hatchery hole, I recommend doing it during the daylight the first few times so you know where to go. There's a sandbar up where it turns right on the river and if you aren't paying attention you can get shallow pretty quick. If you go downriver to the pipehole you don't have to worry about depths. You could also run to white bluffs and launch there too and fish that hole.

How far down is the pipe hole down from bridge? Do you use superbaits, maglip said, eggs there? Also for hatchery hole? I was told each stretch is fished different. I have a jet pump on my sled and launch across by orchards, good friends own it and gave me a key to the gate. How do I know I'm at hatchery hole? Lots of boats I assume?

Is there a map that shows the different fishing holes on the river?
-
When you see a billion boats you will know where the holes are, no one is going to give out a map of them all.
We've been on the water for the past two hours, down stream, for the first time this year, and have three in the boat so far.

The hatchery hole there will be a sign up on the hill on the right that says it's the top of where you can fish, there is an area around there that you can't fish The bottom side of that hatchery hole on the other side there is a big rock wall. If you google vernita map, you'll find maps that shows each hole from Bateman's up to Priest Rapids. We usually use two poles off the downrigger with superbaits or cut plug herring and a middle rod with eggs. Others use maglips
