I was just wondering what yardage you Muzzy hunters were using to sight in your gun. I am shooting 300 grain 50 cal bullets. I sighted mine in at 100 yds but not a tight group. I was wondering if there is a shorter yardage (say for example 25) that would be the same as shooting at 100 yards with bullet drop. I have been told before, but don't know if it true, that a 270 at 35 yards is the same as it would be at 100 yards. So wondering if there is a yardage with muzzy

I have learned that basically you need to find out what your rifle and sights can do at 25, 50 and 100 yards.
Not 2 muzzles will shoot the same and any variation to the powder has an effect on point of impact. For a scoped rifle shooter it can get right down maddening but it's fun.
I started at 25 and went up from there, as soon as I got a bullet/powder combo that gave me the tightest group I was happy and kept it.
My limitation is 110 yards with open sights, I can hit a inside a paper plate all day long, for me that is as far as I feel confident in making a kill shot on a deer size animal.

All target yardage increased in 25-yard increments should be tested with your ML fired. That's my rule of thumb anyways..... out to 150 yards, which is generally my max distance in the hardwoods and swamps I hunt.

I sight in using a 6 o'clock hold every time. I put that front bead just below where i want to hit. I never cover the spot with the bead. I start shooting at 50 and then move to 100 and have no problems hitting the bullseye at 100. First shot this year at the range was 3 inches high at 50 and next shot at a 100 was the top of the bullseye dead center. Consistency in how you aim and where you hold the bead will be your best friend and when you find a bullet and powder charge your gun likes, stick with it. Find your Zen and be one with the gun my friend! :chuckle:

I got so wrapped up with archery this year I didn't allow myself time to shoot the Muzzy. I feel very comfortable where am hitting at 100 yards was just thinking about next time I take to the range. I am going to continue using Archery equipment during Muzzy but if that big buck is outta archery range I will be ready with the muzzy
