I have a Mathews dr 2 I bought from a friend a few years ago. I have finally got into a good practice routine on a weekly basis. The bow has a 70 lb draw. I would like to hunt elk next year. Is this bow sufficient? What weight arrows would be best? Sorry I'm new to archery. Thanks Jason

Plenty of bow for elk. Shoot a fairly Heavy arrow for penitration 100 grain 3 blade would be my recommendation Maybe somebody else that shoots 70 lb will chime in. I shoot low poundage and kill elk but I am a close range shooter

what do you consider close range?

20 yrds @ 50 lb

As long as you have an arrow/broadhead combo that weighs at least 420 grains, you will be fine. 100 grain BH's seem to be the most popular, I hear the Savoras are knocking a lot of animals down this year.... ;)
Scroll down through the archery section and most of your questions should be answered there. Good luck.
