Just strictly asking about camping. I have spent some time in the unit when I was going to CWU and I plan to head over next weekend to deer hunt/scout. My question is, due to starting a new job Oct 1st, I won't be coming over until the night of Nov 4th...will there be any spots left to camp? I will be bringing my little travel trailer. I have reservations at the KOA in Eburg, but would like to be able to camp closer and save some $$. Thanks.

Try squaw rock. Right at the bottom of 1702.

There is tons of public land to park a tent trailer on. No need to pay.
-
one can camp anywhere in 340-342 as long as u stay no father than 100 ft off the road!
-
Thanks guys. I'll scout a few camping spots when I am over next weekend.

I was just over there scouting for the same thing weekend before last. No need to pay and there are many places off the FS roads, even with lots of people it should easily be doable to find a decent spot for your trailer. I would no worry too much. Also, I would suggest you make sure your trailer tow rig has tire chains and they are "operable" just in case.

Check out BBQ flats. They got it all fixed up.

Maloy rd was reopened to public awhile back. I went thru on start of muzzy season and there was maybe 10 camps there the day I went. Road is nice and brand new up to BBQ flats.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's been closed now back open. Gives people a different spot to camp. Especially the people that use to camp there and got kicked out when they closed it.

I stopped amd talked with a dozen guys from BBQ flats to bald mt rd and most of them didn't even know Maloy rd or BBQ flats was back open. They were camping and hunting in the same area so I don't think they cared. :dunno:

Thanks,I'll stay away from BBQ,it's a zoo like the center of a wheel they just road hunt out of there. cow, milk, dippy vat.,covered with road hunter's. WE were in that area last yr, And there was only 3 rig's. That's the big deal!
Great info much appreciated

Thanks for the heads up. My truck is on 35's so I'll have to see if I can round up a set of chains.
