Just wanted to get an idea how many westsiders are heading over the mountain and how many eastsiders are headed west.
-
The west headed east number isn't surprising!
-
Yup. That's what happens when you have the majority of the public land in the state.

ok

depends on the game. go where the game is and areas to hunt are...
-
Or is it simply the deer hunting is leaps and bounds better on the East side of Washington?
-
I'm staying west this year for the 1st time in a long time. Going to try something new and I'd like to kill a blacktail at some point in my life.
I'm looking forward to jungle-thick brush and hunting in a downpour.
:yike:
-
Or combination of things:
more land, can see 1/2 mile or more from the road (vs 20 yds), less (no) rain, away from home

One of these days I will be an eastside headed west to try again to kill a blacktail buck. Bucket list! However, from my house I will be heading west tomorrow! Just not crossing the PCT ...

Good luck! Hollar at me if you get one down in a hole..

Blacktail is a different beast to tame.
-
Heading east for me means most the hillside stumps are brown/black..and not hunter orange :dunno:
-
The east coast aint got no love for Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg?
LOL.
If you guys could put a number on it, how much better are your chances heading out east? And are all the roads heading that way pretty nasty this time of year?
-
Sticking close to home as usual.

Thank you for staying west? No problem.
I've never been to your neighborhood hunting....maybe next year?

staying on the west side for deer this year. all the old farts have gotten so uncoordinated about getting a deer camp together in asotin, that i don't know what the plan is until 2 weeks before the season opens.
i'll be hunting late muzzleloader this year on some(mostly) private property. don't think i could handle modern rifle any more with all the permit areas and closures in recent years, that stuff is gonna be the death of hunting in this state.

good luck sir, hope you get a toad blacktail!
-
I guess my answer is both (even though that wasn't an option :chuckle: ). I'm working tomorrow :bash: so I'll be hunting Westside Sunday. Then heading to the eastside Friday and staying until the end of muley season. If I still have an unnotched tag I'll spend the rest of Blacktail season hunting the Westside.

Not sure you took my post correctly? I hope your not trying to turn this into a west/east thing? My Thank you was attributed towards your awesome attitude towards hunting in the down pour!!!!!! And while your beating brush in the downpour we will be glassing blackies in the High Prarie!

No mule deer hunting for me this year. 😢
Only blacktails. Which is fine, but I'd rather be hunting mule deer.
Gotta try to get my money's worth out of the $300 I gave to Weyerhaeuser.
-
Working until early Nov. so After/before work and days off I'll be doing some local hunting on the west side. If I still have a tag or my son still has a tag, we'll be heading to the NE corner for late whitetails. And if we still have a tag after that, we'll do the late blacktail season back on the coast.
So I'm doing both, but that choice wasn't available.
-
Hitting the stubble fields and wooded draws of the palouse might sneek down for some mule deer hunting in my old stomping grounds in the blues if i don't drop one opening weekend
-
Hey fellas, thanks for pointing out that some of you will hunt both sides if you don't tag out in the first few days. I have added that as a selection in the poll. Good luck, give 'em hell, and stay safe!
-
Staying west this year due to my on call schedule.
-
First year on our own property and next to the National Forest. Have some deer that like to wander through. I'm too pregnant to get far into the woods right now, so we're setting up close to home. Don't expect we'll see anything, but gotta get out somehow!
Next year looking to set up our own feed plot, game camera, and *maybe* quasi-permanent blind. Waited years for this opportunity! :IBCOOL:

Hunt Deer on the West Side. This is only because hunting East side would make scouting kinda impossible. I completely don't like the west side for Deer hunting.
Drive East for Duck hunting, since I already have spots to hunt... Potholes FTW!

At least on the west side you can count on that. Maybe nothing else, but that is for sure.
