Im new to Washington and am not familiar with the hunting scene just yet. I am looking for some small game options to get my son out in the field, unfortunately it seems that squirrels are a tough one up here...
Ive seen passing mention of rabbits in the Vancouver Lake area... though there wasnt much information online or in the DFW reg book on rabbits or V Lake.
Ive heard that its shotguns only out there, mostly in reference to bird hunting, I assume the same is true for any game out there.
Unfortunately my son is at his mothers on weekends and we dont have a whole lot of time so Im hoping to find some small game hunts within an hour or two of Vancouver.
If the lake area is indeed a good spot for rabbit, and its shotgun only... can I assume that a smoothbore muzzleloader would be allowable?
Thanks!

V.Lake is real close to me and rabbit hunting is a large Intrest of mine so I have been there in the cold, warm, sunny, rainy, overcast, morning, noon and evening; I've never even seen rabbit pellets.
Would seem to be a perfect place to hunt them but if they are there then I am doing it wrong.

I think the release of pheasants there keeps the predator population pretty steady. I don't think Ive seen any rabbits their but I'm sure there's a few.

I duck hunted Vancouver Lake several times in January and saw several rabbits on the road every time I drove down La Framboise Rd. FYI please be aware that you cannot use toxic lead shot anywhere around the lake, they will check you and fine you if you do.
