So my buddy just got out of the army and is starting to get back into hunting. Saturday we decided to head down by St. Helens to look for some blacktails. On our way there just outside of Morton on Hwy 12 we notice a large semi went off the road and overturned in the ditch. The driver was fine and awaiting tow trucks. So we go about our day and hunt but didnt see any deer that day just a few grouse. Now for the funny part...... On our way back we pass the spot where the truck overturned. It is now gone but the truck left something behind. It was towing 2 trailers filled with ears of corn! So we drive by it and were looking at each other going "Holy Crap thats a lot of corn! Should we turn around? It's just gonna go to waste." So we are laughing hysterically at this point and as we approach the corn, there are now 20 other vehicles parked with all sorts of people jumping out to load up whatever bag, box or anything else they could load up with corn! We grabbed probably 30-40 ears and left. But the sight was pretty funny. it looked like a relay race with people running back and forth to their cars loading corn :chuckle:

Some years ago the same thing happened in Glacier NP but with derailed hopper bottom cars, several hundred ton of shelled corn provided a winter source of food for several grizzles. They did not bother to hibernate I was told. Fermentation for heat and all the calories they could put down.

I thought you were gonna say there were deer feeding on the corn and you shot one.
