Title: Anyone know the Stella unit at all? (not asking for details)
Post by: Pete112288 on October 20, 2015, 06:26:19 PM
So without having to buy the Columbia Timber permit I found an area in the Stella I can hunt for late season muzzy. Antlerless or 3pt+. I have never been in the Stella at all even though it is somewhat close. I normally hunt an area in the Battleground unit late season but was unaware that it went to permit only when Weyco bought out the land and its now Columbia Timber. I already bought the St Helens pass so cant afford to get another. The area in Stella I found is walk in only, seems to be decent size area from the Weyco map. I will take any info I can get but I am not looking to pick people's brains about where to go and everything. What I really want to know is if anyone has experience in there is it normally pretty crowded for that time of year? Or will I have a good chance at having little competition? (feel free to PM me if there is anything you know but don't want to put on blast all over the internet.)
Thank you for everything.

Numbers are WAY DOWN! Hoof Rot, cow is open for all season, and easy access to most areas. January cow tags used to be a give me, now you might see a couple of limpers on private.
10 years ago I had a herd of 25 behind my house, 7 years ago 15, 5 years ago 10, last three years none.
sorry for the bad news,
John
