I recently purchased some property in the Blues this past spring and my son and I headed over for the general opener last Friday. Saturday morning around 8:15 a.m., my son took the very first buck off the property.
Almost to the day a month earlier, I was in the boat catching silvers at Sekiu when at 11:00 a.m in the morning I got a cellular picture of this same buck on the property.
After he shot it, the buck slowly headed downhill from where he was. Almost immediately after he shot it, the big dawg on the property showed up and stood there and looked at him from about 70 yards away. That second buck was still watching him when my son turned downhill and left while keeping an eye on the buck he had shot. That big guy was a 6x5 in the 180's. Son had to turn away as it was too much to look at.... :chuckle:
Unfortunately for me I had a heck of a chest cold that morning and was watching it all from way down below on the property where we parked. I was glassing and unloading wire and t posts to protect some new tree plantings.
His buck ended up piled up in a fenceline right next to one of the new UTV trails I had put in for easier access. Beautiful but somewhat steep property. I did however get to spend several relaxing hours in the new blind we put in earlier this summer before we headed home. Absolutely beautiful. Great way to open the season and enjoy the property.

That's awesome when things come together like that

That's awesome. How much property did you get? That's my dream to someday own a hunting property.

You got a picture of the big one ?

Well done, Centurion and son. Nice buck and it's great to get it on your own property.

No, unforunately not. But has been seen on the property numerous times and by those who can estimate whitetails. Son obviously got a close up look....probably 24 inches wide, four on the beam, tine lengths tall...9-10 inches, and thick mass. When he originally saw it a long way off earlier at first light he thought it was a big mulie buck. Like the old saying goes...."when they look BIG....they're big". :chuckle:
