As some may know I'm new to the area and am currently hunting on JBLM. Unfortunately, 2 does and a coyote do not cut the mustard. Am interested if there are any public lands in and around Olympia...if not, I'd be willing to pay for a lease. Thanks again!

Capital Forest is just south of Olympia, just have to have a discover pass. There also still permits for St. Helens tree farm available.

Capitol forest is no better than jblm. Id stick to the base at this point. Once you have time to scout theres lots of good public areas within an hour or so.

Thanks for the responses!

Just hunt the base hard till Saturday. Beat brush and be there between 10 and 2 every day as well. They seem to be moving during the day more now and in my area they are moving between those times.

There are a couple of really nice bucks on military land at area 21 near Rainier. A pretty nice bear as well. :twocents:

There are some nice deer on the Post, that is if the Post Commander would allow Rang Control to open JBLM training areas. I checked the list and with only two areas open for deer hunting, (the same two as last year) its going to be tuff to get a deer out there. I'll bet you saw your does in area 20. Capital Forrest just might be your best bet this late in the season.

I used to hunt north of Hwy 12 like around Alpha & Cinebar and up Pigeon Springs Rd about twenty-five years ago and did real well. I am not certain if this is timber company land, but there is a lot that is Snoq National Forest. There were a heck of a lot of deer in there, I started hunting closer to home, or I would still be hunting there probably.

I've been hunting in TA 3 near Nisqually River Road. So far there's been quite a few hunters but not much movement in regards to game.
