Hey AR 15 yote hunters,
I will be putting a scope on my AR 15 shortly for this very reason. I wanted to know peoples thoughts on what they have and what they suggest for hunting yotes, bobs, etc. Keep in mind, MOST of my hunting will be in Western Wa and most of my shots will be 200 yards or less more than likely.
Thoughts?
Thanks. :hello:
I guess I should have put this under the "Optics" forum, sorry.

Ive always wanted an ar topped with a red dot but thats just me.......
-

oops...

but i will say an ar with a laser would kick ass. good suggestion moss!

3-9 power scope is great for predator hunting, but a higher power would be nice if you ever want to go shoot some varmints. :twocents:

I like the Burris 4.5x14 FF2, Doesn't cost a arm and a leg and the optics seem bright. My shots are usally 50 yrds out to 400yrds. I usally keep mine around 6 power but crank it down in tight quarters. You can paint an AR also without issues.

i put a nikon 3x9x40 buckmaster on mine, lifetime warranty, super clear glass, doesn't fog and the yardage offsets seem to be perfect for the .223. paid 230 for it i think, for the money its better than what burris and leopould offer even in the 300 to 350 dollar range, i love my burris scope but i paid a little over 1000 for that

Big10gauge, that is amazing. I'll trade you my gf for that gun.... :chuckle: The awkward thing is, she's right behind me... :(

So is that a definite no? You may have my interest on that trade :chuckle:

Having the potential for high powers for a hop over to the east side is a nice bonus!
I love being able to go to 2 over here though. Almost require it.
I have a 2-10 Nikon Monarch on the gun I bought from Rick. I think that's the ultimate combo.
I use 2-7's regularly too. I think they're just right, but I'd lose a little confidence doing a 300yd shot on the dry side.

Really interested on this topic i am looking for a scope for my ar and i dont know what to get. You guys should post pics of your ar's so i can see what they look like with the different type of scopes.
-
I have a very similar setup as Big10, although if you can afford it you cant go wrong with Nikon.

I had that scope on a 22-250 for about a year, that was a year too long. :twocents:

Check the Simmons Aetec 4-14 x 44. Great Scope, you can find them around 189.00. I have 2, very clear, and holds zero all day.

Lol...well said man. I will.

I have been impressed with my bushnell legend 3-9x50. I have dropped the gun twice on the scope, taken it off and dropped it and its still zeroed. :o It takes the recoil of a 338 win with no problem either.

I did alot or research to determine what brand/power scope to go with on a calling rifle. I decided on a 3x9 so I have good field of view on 3 power. Also, you want to get a good eye relief and mount so you can operate your charging handle without problems. I am very happy with my set up.
Got a great deal on a used ZEISS that is in new condition. Clearest scope I've ever looked through. Clearer than my VXIII I have on my 7mm Rem Mag.

I went with a lightweight 16", so keeping with that theme I stuck a low power variable on mine. Browning 2-7x32. It's basically a Bushnell 3200. This is my 3rd 3200 and I love em. I had no problem hitting a coyote sized rock at 250 with this scope set on 2x.

That may be the funniest thing I've read tonight. Nice!!! I can't hit a damn thing with my AR.

I use a 4.5 X 14 Nikon buckmaster with bdc reticle. I like the scope but a proper cheek weld is difficult on the AR. Just got a cheekrest from midway to fix that.

Looks like we all use the same Varminter

Doesn't look like you need anything. Good shooting ;)

Thanks to everyone who pitched in ideas. I will be buying a scope this coming weekend, more than likely.
