Wanting to try a new river for steelhead but I don't have a boat, looking for any info on good places to bank fish, tips on fishing the rivers and any fishing reports would be awesome.
-
Clearwater river up by Orfino lots of spots to bobber and jig fish.
-
Now's the time to hit it. Should be good fishing from Goose up to the border.
-
when I drive the river I note where the flyfishers are. then the next trip I fish there. it works sometimes. once in a while when I come back down the river if they are gone I will try the spot. mike w

ronde is super low!! fished it 2 weeks ago and it was near record low flow. rain coming should raise it some and move some fish up. Lots of bank access on the ronde form Bogans to OR.. Shoemaker is good too

Heard of a iron noggin and a King caught this last weekend on the Ronde
-
One of these days I will have to bring a rod over and try the Ronde. But by time I get to the river after chukar hunting I am too damn tired to want to fish. Was there last week and saw quite a few fisherman hitting the river.

if you want scenery, but dont care about catching fish, and getting ugly looks from unfriendly flyfisherman, go to the Ronde. if you was decent fish, that are big, as stated prior, go Orfino.

we killed the kings in mid october..hooked 22 of them in a weekend.. no season, but yet there is a springer season the last 2 years with 0 reports of a king caught :bash:

I am surprised that with the amount of fish going over the dam no one is posting any Steelhead stuff from the Snake. There has to be folks fishing above Granite and Goose.
-
Snake is too warm, was 68 a few days ago. GH, go in expecting funny looks no wonder you are getting them.
-
Just got back from the Ronde. its fishing well, but most of the fish appear to be "unclipped hatchery", so ya wont be keeping fish there.
-
steelhead we hooked were almost all hatchery..they come in big groups...some days we hook 80% wild then the next day its 80% hatchery

Fishing has slowed down quite a bit round here. Give it a couple weeks and let the water temp stabilize. The fish are in shock right now with the water temp dropping. Does this every year. You can always get a few,

But couple weeks it'll be back to 10-20 steelhead a day. And the big dogs are starting to show up in orofino. 40 1/2 inch fish caught yesterday.
