I am starting to look for a good bow for my wife. I want something that will last long term. This past year she shot one of my old bows set at 40 pounds with little let off. So far I am leaning towards the Mathews Mission. Any ideas?

I Recently bought mine a mathews dxt it is rated at 50-60 but you can back it out to about 45 hoping she gets a little stronger. My theory on this was that if she lost interest all of a sudden I would have a darn nice back up bow......lol

Going to order my wife a Mathews Hyperlite. She's moving up from the Ignition, she liked shooting the DXT but did not like the added weight over her Ignition. The Hyperlite is slightly heavier than the Ignition. She was actually able to pull back an extra 7 pounds due to the cam rollover and higher let off. She went from 47 pounds on the Ignition to 54 on the DXT. And like Murph said if she decides down the road it's not her gig change out the cam and you got yourself a back up.

My wife shoots an Alpine Silverado Sienna very well. I've got it turned down to about 35# so she can comfortably shoot it. It could go up to 50# if she decides to hunt with it. It'd look pretty funny in the woods, though, because it's hot pink with a pink Posten stabilizer. Even though it's turned down below its designed 40# minimum it still puts out world class groups.

I urged my wife to get the ignition or the mustang but after shooting several bows she settled on a Hoyt tykron sport. She said that the mathews bows hurt her shoulder when drawing. Ive shot good groups with it out to 50 yds. Although im a mathews guy the Hoyt is working out well. and it didnt break the bank. I thought we were walking out with a mathews but that quickly changed when it became difficult to draw. My recommendation is to shoot all to top ones and see which one she likes. good luck

Oh yeah! Forgot about the Kobalt! Friends wife has one and it is a nice bow and shoots well. Could not get it to tune with a biscuit though any suggestions on that Hoytstaffshooter? She really wants to shoot a biscuit.

Oldest daughter (18) got a Parker Side-Kick last year
other daughter (16) got Diamond The Edge two years ago
both are set to 45lbs range is 40-50 and they have 25in draw-length
can get them fully ready to shoot for under 400

Now I'm no expert like Hoyt but friends have had good luck trimming the bristles out only where the fetching hits them. It doesn't take much but you have to make sure that if you do it that they dont hit anywhere so as not to create drag on only one point, throwing the arrow off a bit :twocents:

Yes paper tuning, any suggestions? I think we've tried about everything. We get the best results having the loop under the arrow rather than around it. Sorry to jack the thread!

Cabelas has some really nice packages on sale for around $230 usually $300. They have everything except the stabilizer and arrows.

personally I have never paper tuned any of my bows.... paper tuning is still up in the air for me and many others........
