Title: Sucks when plans change......A little help?
Post by: XxStarXx on November 01, 2015, 06:02:55 AM
hi guys,
I been lurking on the forum for a couple years now and have learned a ton by reading, I know there are a ton of knowable people on here with a wreath of info so I thought I would throw my dilemma out there and see what advice I can get as I'm getting desperate and elk is only a week away :-\

So, I buy an elk tag every year but haven't got to use it in the last 6 years because I work out of state 98% of the time working on communications stuff for military, government entities. I been in LA for the last few months getting back towards the end of September. I was really excited for my next job that was suppose to start the first week of October because I would get to hunt the clearwater unit through elk season and would have plenty of time to scout and set up cameras after work during deer. Well as its been my luck trying to go on an elk hunt that the job has been pushed back till December-January :bash: So now I need to make a new plan and work has been hectic since I have been back it been hard trying to make one. I have decided that I'm going on an elk trip even if it kills me I just don't know where lol. Been thinking about going to North River as I have heard good thing about it and always wanted to hunt there but never been there other than to fish. I live in the 407 GMU and elk here is pretty much non existent lol .Google earth and the internet has been my best friend the last couple weeks trying to learn as much as I can. I think I have a couple of spots picked out in 658 and was planning a trip over this weekend to go scout a few areas and look for a spot to set up my elk camp then head back over Thursday and get set up but wouldn't you know it I got the shaft again thanks to mother nature and these storms knocking out power to cell phone towers around the area.....It really sucks being an 24/7 on-call tech.... 36 hours later and I'm still on the clock repairing things so needless to say no trip over before Saturday  :bash: lol. I was hoping someone knows the area and could give me some very generalized info, I would like to be clear that I'm NOT looking for someone to tell me the elk are here or their honey hole but hey if you wanted to I wouldn't complain  :chuckle: Just wondering if its worth the trip and if there are places a person can set up an elk camp for a few days preferable not a campsite or RV park lol. Its a little hard to tell what areas are open when I'm looking at maps. Thanks in advance for anything anyone is willing to offer up. Feel free to PM me I don't expect anyone to blast anything over the internet   ;)
