Been hunting 336 Taneum since Monday trying to fill my any bull tag, but have yet to find a bull or any elk in general for that matter. Anyone have a line on a bull or two in Taneum?

I feel your pain, I have a bull tag as well and haven't seen an elk.

I've gotten similar reports out of other units, seems to be a tough year for sure.

Weathers not helping but stay after it they are there. We have passed on a half dozen Bulls or more just no real big boy showing yet . Have to get away from people and look in the hidden pockets.

You know...i see posts like this every year. I think that it needs to be pointed out that elk hunting is difficult. They are a different animal than deer and not as numerous. Every year people comment on the weather or some other random uncontrollable factor that is severely hindering their hunt. Elk don't wait around to see what you are before they run, they live in some very nasty holes, that are difficult to get into, they are extremely mobile, the lists goes on and on. The reason you guys aren't seeing elk is because they are a difficult, more than a deer, animal to hunt and it takes time to learn their tendencies.

Side Note: I can't say thanks enough to everyone that sent me PMs in regard to areas to check out. I am unable to make it to any of the locations in little naches due to the location of where my Opa parks his trailer. I've been hitting 336 hard and hope to be successful and share the story and pics.

Looking forward to hearing about your trip and what you saw. I'm heading up to 336 this Thursday to catch the end of the season. So far the elk sign I've seen out there has been in heavy timber. Good luck!

My dad and I were in the middle of a herd in the gmu we hunt and we didnt realize it til they came out into the open haha but it was deer season so we just were real still so we didnt spook them but we tried to see if there was a legal bull in the herd and didnt see one. Just a spike that showed himself in the cows. Ive only got three days to hunt for elk so I hope I can find a legal bull. My dream is for my dad to fill his tag and I fill mine, same herd, same time.

agreed. You have to go the extra mile or 5. There still rutting in most eastern units. At least they were last Monday. Buddy had a tag which we filled 5 miles in.

Good luck!!!!! Steeper and deeper!!!!!

seems to be slow in other units to. I have a buddy that was hunting the east side of the Naneum and didnt even see an elk?

I've lived in the kittitas valley my whole life and never have I seen it like this year. After seeing the elk population suffering in the 335 we decided to hit the 328 opening weekend, very little sign and shooting going on, and probably saw well over 50 guys opening day. Moved over to the 336 on Monday because dad had a cow tag that opened Wednesday......after not seeing one elk and being able to count the elk tracks we saw on one hand we packed up Thursday afternoon and drove 5 hours to hunt the other part of the state. Not sure what's going on but everyone I talk to has the same story......no elk.
