I've been out a few times in last week or so to check my camera and look for new elk sign for late archery season .. Haven't seen a single deer it seems like the deer activity has dropped dramatically anyone else notice that??
-
Nope...my dad watched a buck mount a doe this morning...find the does and you have bucks close by
-
Ok that's good to know. I was fortunate enough to fill my tag opening morning but my hunting partners all still have tags for late buck.

I believe it changes in different areas I was on vashon island October 28th and the rut was OVER my friends who live there said opening weekend they were rutting tough where I hunt up here they just started rutting and chasing does tough around the 27th and they are still chasing now
-
Still a lot of bucks killed in late buck season with swollen necks, IMHO
-
Last year in unit 407 they were rutting hard during late buck. There was a different buck with the does in the field every day.
-
Took a little drive today and the deer in grayback unit were all over. bucks chasing does nose down tuning the roads. Also saw a little 2 point bumping a doe in 578 in town.
Still no action like that where we are hunting though 😬
-
The bucks should keep running hard for another week perhaps. The question is: Will the rut be over when late buck picks up?

It just seems like normally down in my next of the woods the deer are rutting hard during rifle elk season.. Walking down the road drunk and stumbling. But lately they don't seem to be moving.
