This year seemed to be an odd year for Eastside elk. We put in the work, the miles and the time and saw very few elk. We filled one Naches cow tag and missed an opportunity to fill the other. We hunted all my good honey holes and saw very few elk. With all the cow tags this year I was curious about everyone else's experience. I added bull tags as well, we saw lots of bull sign but only one on the hoof.

If you are talking about the Yakima herd I don't think its in the shape the game department thinks it is.... But the clockum herd is a different story.

We had elk all over all season long in tampico

Hunted a few different areas, found plenty of elk. They were all holed up in deep/dark/thick ground. No tags filled, hunting spikes the last weekend of the season is always tough. No shortage of critters though.

We hunted all our regular spots in the Little Naches and saw several Elk, just no spikes. I did have an Umtanum cow tag and went over there on Wed and filled it.

I selected option 3 but it would be more appropriate if it read, Cow tag tastes bad when you blow your chances. I hunted the ML season in 336. I called in a spike for my buddy on opening morning then had several more encounters throughout the week. At one point I had a clear 90yd shot but could not get a solid rest in time. I called in another unidentified elk and bumped more than I care to. I've never thwarted so much opportunity in a season. It's a sickening feeling. I'll add that my brother and another buddy hunted hard on their cow tags and never found elk at all in the same gmu.
