Title: Win model 70 Mannlicher?
Post by: Skillet on November 25, 2015, 10:39:37 PM
Anybody ever seen/owned/built one? I have a 30-06 M70 FWT  Classic that is redundant in my safe, and have always hankered for another full stock gun after I sold my Sako.  Thinking of building a 20" barrel 35 Whelen - that should do the trick.
Where would I find a gunsmith to do this? Stock options?

They used to come from the factory like that.  I didn't care for the look as they didn't have a barrel band like the Sako and had a much longer barrel making the look like they had a lot of wood out front.

JES can rebore your existing barrel to 35 Whelen and MPI made a synthetic Mannlicher stock that would make a nice light weight hunting rig.  Their stoçk had a wood grain Finnish.

Sorry I went over to the MPI sight and they have dropped the wood grain finish bit still carry the Mannlicher design.
