Would love if someone could give me a hand with the regs...I've spent half an hour on the wdfw website and must be stupid or blind because I could t figure this out. :bash:
I know for elk your special applications need to match the east side/westside tag, but am unclear if your special apps weapon needs to match the license and tag you buy before applying.
For example, I want to put in for an archery second deer tag, but also hunt modern firearm for my regular tag. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for the help.

If you draw and purchase the multi season permit, its possible.
-
Ok--but can't mix weapons without the multi season permit?
(I'm going to apply for it by the odds tend not to like me)
-
No, the only way to mix weapons and tags without the multi season permit is to buy modern weapon tag but hunt it with your bow or muzzle loader, or buy the muzzle loader tag and hunt it with your bow. Those are your only weapon mixed options.

I sure wish they'd let us apply for any of the 2nd deer tags regardless of which license we have. There's no reason it needs to be that way.

To start from the beginning: you purchase some combination of hunting/recreational license that includes a deer tag. You do not have to specify weapon choice at that time.
If you wish to apply for special permits in the spring (like second deer tags), then you must select a weapon type before applying: modern, muzzleloader, or archery. You may only apply for special permits that match the weapon type you selected.
If you do not apply for any special permits, and if you already selected a hunting method you can exchange it for a different hunting method before the applicable season starts.
If you apply for, draw, and purchase a multi-season permit you may apply for special permits in any hunting method category. You may hunt all the general seasons, but only with the hunting method applicable to that season. In other words, you can hunt the general archery seasons but only with archery equipment.
Hope that helps.

Not quite right. A friend wanted to exchange his archery elk tag for muzzleloader. I think it was September 8th, but whatever the date, it was before archery elk season began. He was told it could not be exchanged. The deadline is September 1st.

Great, thanks guys. That is helpful. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for a multi season tag.
