Haha! Like you've seen it before? It worked flawlessly! Can't wait to catch more! I may be putting in an order for both muskrat and beaver traps soon!

Beautiful Cat
-
awesome, congrats
-
Beautiful belly on your cat. If you're selling on the market, I'd highly suggest putting it up in the raw and being willing to hang on to it until the cat market comes back up. Horrible this year. Hard to say, but I'd expect it to take several years before prices are good again. :twocents:

Me to very cold streak. Congrats on your catch
-
Nice job!!
-
OK maybe I'm stupid. What is that white triangle?
-
looks like shadows
-
The white triangle is sunlight on the beaver mostly in shadows.
-
Not its back. On its hip.
-
Yep a spot of sunlight coming in from somewhere in the shape of a triangle.
-
Yep just sunlight! Here is a pic of it on the stretcher...feel free to critique it! So much to learn about putting up fur...
-
Great job!!
-
Those look to be push pins? I use finish nails so you can pull the pelt away from the board. It aids in drying and doesn't allow for growth of organisms. (Bacteria, etc.)
-
Looks great! But yeah, use nails.
-
Really it looks fine. I would use nails though. IMO it is a waste of time to raise the pelt up on the nail however I do like to have the fur dry before stretching.
Couple things I do different: I cut the lips and nose off, just stretch them out past your circle but nail at the line and trim off the excess when you are done.
I never pin the front legs but that is just me. A lot of guys do that.
And I cut the ears off. Dries a lot faster with them gone and they are going to whack them at the tannery anyway.
-
Ok thanks for the tips! I will get some nails! The pins are a pain anyway... I do put a box fan on it to help it dry too tho
-
Buy brights. They are easier on your fingers then galvanized.
And buy big enough ones so they are easy to grip.
