Contest will be the 5 biggest Burbot per person which one of them will be their big fish if entered into that side pot. I would like to come fish the tourney. I saw the video on youtube on how to catch them. Do I need to anchor up if I am jigging or just free drift my boat. I don't know that area well. Also about how much weight do I need if i just anchor and fish a nightcrawler off bottom? 1-2 3 or oz.??? any info would be great.
-
Hope you can make it. It'll be a fun day with good food. No free drift is best but you can anchor. 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz is all you will need
-
Hope my schedule is open and I can make this it sounds like it should be a hoot.
-
Walleyeguy hope you can make it...Craig
-
Are you keeping the fish or releasing after weigh in? Glenn, save me a seat.
-
Keeping them if the people want if anyone doesn't want them we will take them and donate them or give to people that want them, they are very good eating.
-
This sounds like a great time. Too bad I don't have a boat. Hey, if anyone has an open seat, im free that day and will help with gas/whatever.
-
I might be able to find a seat for you on a boat if your interested asmith...I should know in the next few days. Craig
-
This sounds like a good time. I've never fished burbot but have fished Roosevelt for rainbows quite a bit. It might be a good chance to learn something.
-
Wish I'd have more time to plan for this.
-

That would be awesome, just let me know. Thanks bud!!

Tournament is getting closer. Remember you need a tournament banner or some way of displaying your part of the tournament such as caution tape that you can wrap around the motor and we can write tournament on it...We will have caution tape with us at the meeting if anyone needs it. Hope everyone has a great New Years and have a safe one at that...YJ

Craig you have any fishing reports for this to share?
-
Fishing was slower than normal last weekend for us fishing the arm. Heard they are biting by the net pens on the lake...Craig
-
Craig, I know they're letting water out of Long Lake, but was there ice in the narrows heading up the arm?
-
a little here and there nothing big
-
I have been out a couple nights and not a bite, but heard that guys the day before near the pens clobbered them. we tried worms, trout bellies, hot dogs, salmon bellies and a mix of the above.
-
Thanks for the report. Looks like fishing in the areas of the pens will be the ticket.
-
How big do the burbot get in th river? I've only heard of people catching them up north of Newport in the lakes until I saw this post. Just curious...
-
also, I know craig suggests braided line, but keep temps in mind. braid is a biche at much below 25* we were icing up bad.
-
Temps are suppose to be 32 high and 22 low Friday night. I use braid cause if I don't after one trip I will be respooling the line cause of the line twist. We catch burbot from 2lbs to 9 1/2lbs being the biggest.
-
sign in will be at the ft Spokane store just up the hill from ft Spokane launch on right. Park service wont allow exchanging money on park property, look for the signs...
-
Craig how's the lot at the store? I was there last week on the first warm day and could hardly stop in my Toyota. Just wondering if we should dump the boat first.
-
You can do it either way. Not sure haven't been there lately. Do it however is easier for you.
-
I have yet to catch one of these.....but we'll see you in the morning!
-
This is what they look like, and this is what you'll look like when you get your hands on the slimy bugger. They eat really good though.
Good luck all-
-
Anxious to see the results.
-
Skillet looks like you are holding on to a slimy baseball bat with teeth!
-
BIG  toYJ for putting on the event and the awesome chili, congrats to CCTMark for big fish and winning wieght. All I could catch was walleyes that had size to them :bash: should have used reverse psychocology. Was an awesomme day to be out.
-
Thanks for putting on a fun tournament Craig. Our boat had a good time and now we know where to go. Good luck with the rest of your burbot season.
-
Great tournament! Thank you Craig for all the effort you put into this. I am looking forward to future tournaments.
-
I had a ball, thanks Craig. good to meet you guys. Are the guys from Republic with the duckworth on here? I had the white Boice.
-
Thanks Craig! Awesome tourney. And thanks again to Scott for letting me go on his boat. Had a blast and can't wait for the next one.
-
If anyone was using a pink big eyed jig head with a small black swivel that broke off.....I got your fish. I was cleaning our pile and felt something odd, so I investigated.....and scored some tackle!
-
Where's all the pics fellas

Great tourney Craig (except for the fact that you bumped me out of 3rd place lol). Simple and uncomplicated. Thanks.
-
Those look like nice fish High Country. I'd like to try them sometime.
-
Man them things where some work to clean and skin aND not a whole lit of meat eaither. I'll be cooking them up tonight. I hope they taste as good as everyone has said.
-
Well heres the results. 11 boats 26 participants and 54 fish caught with the biggest being 4.07lbs and the smallest being 1.97lbs. We fished for 6.5 hrs on a beautiful calm day. It was great time with a lot of great people there. Hopefully everyone had enough fun to participate next year. We are now booking Burbot trips if anyone wants to try and catch these yummy tasting fish. Sorry daddysprad on the bump LOL...No we live just outside Davenport....Craig

Nice job guys!!!!
-
We will be doing a multi species tournament next year. Hopefully we can get a huge turn out. It will be a trout, burbot and walleye combination tournament.
