Title: opinions? experience? Tracker, Evolution, Wolf, Optima, Wolverine
Post by: Pete112288 on December 08, 2015, 11:50:22 AM
So my mom is having me shop for her for a muzzy for my dad for Christmas. $300 limit. He is a weekend hunter not insanely serious hunter but wants to go to muzzleloader. He is tedious about cleaning and maintaining firearms. I found a well used Knight Wolverine with peep for $200. The barrel is clean but the stock will need some work or at least but pad replaced. Then new I have found CVA Wolf in the right price, the Optima right on the price cut off. And Traditions Tracker and Evolution both in the price range. Any opinions here? I don't have experience with the CVAs or those Traditions models. Horror stories,  good things, bad? Thank you much for all the help. Oh and a 54 call boat paddle stock stainless knight that is in great condition but I want to get him a 50. Damn

Sportco on 4th in Seattle had a nice assortment under $300. Forget the models, will check next time I am in.

My daughter and I shoot a Traditions Evolution and get 1 1/2 or less groups at 100 yds.  I really like that gun and have never had a single problem with it.

cva optima. You can get it from a sponsor on here. muzzle-loaders.com.

I think it would be right at 300 delivered last time I looked. We picked up 4 of them this year and have been very happy with them.

get a knight bighorn. pay the extra dough they go off every time. had a optima before, but  it had a 209 primer for ignition. the optima may be the one for you. no experience with the optima several people on here have one.
