For any of you looking for a Xmas present for your buddy (or yourself), I highly recommend James's Poison Arrow Gear, pretty cow face decoy. I've had one attached to the last arrow in my quiver for two seasons now and am amazed at how those big galoots just stare at it when they come in.... probably the most significant piece of new/added gear in my elk tool kit for many years. Give it a shot, you won’t' be sorry. RJ

I agree with you; the Poison Gear foldable decoy is really cool. I will be carrying it tomorrow....

I'm looking for a way to keep my P.A. Decoy from spinning all over the place in even mild windy conditions. The company owner has suggested a rubber band fix but I'm looking for a better fix before I put it back on my quiver. I definitely see the potential in this piece of equipment but so far it has actually detracted from my hunts. :dunno:

Band, do you mean the arrow is spinning where the BH goes into the quiver? If that's the case, then maybe a different, better BH locking in quiver? I have one buddy with a hard rubber insert quiver (can't remember the make), and he has a similar "spinning" problem as his BH is not locked in place tightly. I have an Alpine quiver with the replaceable soft foam insert and it holds the arrow(s) solid as a rock. Or, are you referring to the decoy itself just flapping in the wind? I've tested mine in mild wind to see if it affects my hold or POI and the effect was minimal but have never been in a hunting situation where it was extremely windy but would imagine that may cause some issues.

The arrow/broad head stay in place fine. The problem is that the grooved bracket that clamps down on the arrow shaft will not stay in place even though I tighten the screws down tight, which makes the whole decoy wave around. My suggestion to the owner/developer was to have the grooved bracket rubberized to prevent the problem. Seems like a pretty obvious fix to an obvious problem.
Don't think I'll be using the decoy until I figure out a way to fix it. Too many times this problem detracted from possible shot opportunities for me in both the early and late seasons.

I know that it looks simple to make those small changes. It really isn't that simple to rubberize the bracket. There is a very simple fix that will keep your bracket from moving on your arrow. Double sided tape. Take your bracket apart and put the tape on the bracket. Put it back on your arrow and tighten the screws. I know that a number have questioned the use of the t-nuts that I use, I did use wing nuts but they are far bulkier than you would think. If you want to replace the t-nuts with wing nuts it is size 6-32 threads.
Also one advantage of the decoy is, it can be easily removed and used in your hand as other decoys,or tied on a tree or bush. That is one reason I like the band idea to keep it from turning. It can still be readily removed when you want to.

I'll try that double-sided tape suggestion. It also occurred to me today that a couple of rubber bands could be wrapped around each bracket to provided the arrow gripping I'm looking for. I think I'll give that a try tomorrow. :tup:

The rubber band fix turned out to be very simple and the arrow holds so tight I can't even get it to spin. One rubber band doubled over twice did the trick. The decoy goes back on my bow. :tup:

Does anybody know a good way of clamping the decoy to the arrow so the wind doesnt grab it and open it during bike transit? Also was a nightmare crashing thriugh thick brush....darn thing wouldnt stay closed.
Maybe some sort of clamp i can put on and then remove when i get where i am going? The string just isnt good enough for me.

Hmmm- let me think on that a little . Maybe I can figure out an easy fix.

Ok , this will fix that. Take your shock cord and run it down about 2/3 of the way to the bottom. Loop it around your arrow and decoy and go under the cord as the picture shows . Pull the cord down and place in nock. You can do two of these loops for extra holding. Again see pictures.
It will take just a little more fiddling to get it deployed.
