Title: 25-06 Load Recipe Please
Post by: h20hunter on December 11, 2015, 03:14:41 PM
So, pet loads for accuracy out of your .25-06? Have a new to me, to be used by son, Remy 700 Syn with a 24 inch tube.

Thanks.

A 110gr Accubond and as much H4831sc your comfortable stuffing in the case.

No advice on loads, but you might get more response changing the 26 to a 25 in the title.   ;)

Pick a bullet you want to use, there is usually a load in a manual that will make it work.

Taking loads off the internet is good way to have everything go south for you.  A mis- remembered load or a typo (you wrote a 6 instead of a 5) can be hazardous.  There are so many variables that what works in one won't work in another, a load that looks good in one rifle can be over pressure in another.  I have a few different 22-250 barrels for one rifle and they all have preferences and they vary alot.  If you do use an internet load be sure you can back it up in a manual.

You don't even say what you want to use it for.

That cal . will most likely eat anything you put in it ! Hornaday or Accubond bullets would be my 2 top choices ,,, I can give you a couple !

I use 100gr Barnes, and 4350 at about the max.  The only inaccuracy I seem to get is from the knucklehead operating it!

I've had a pile of them and not one of them wouldn't shoot an 87 to 90 gr pill with about 57 gr of imr4831 really well.

:yeah:  my .25-06 likes H4831(sc too) and 4350.  The 110 Accubonds, 100 Barnes TSX and the Sierra HPBT all perform well.

Right now I'm tinkering with the 100 grn HPBT pushed by 51.8 grains of 4350.  I have to get it chrono'd but it's very accurate.

You'll probably have to tinker with OAL but it shouldn't be hard to get it dialed in

Thanks for the input, suggestions, and the link.

I think, after reading online, the 110 Accubond will be the first pill. I will be loading on the low end of the powder scale at first since this will be a shooter for my son.

Try 51.0 to 52.0 grains of IMR4831 in Remington cases using CCI primers and the 117 grain Sierra Gameking or Speer 120 grain boat tail. It's a great all around and very accurate load. I've taken white-tailed deer, black-tailed deer, mule deer, bear, antelope, many coyotes, and a couple of elk with this load. The longest coyote was at 580yards.

I shoot 117 grn Sierra Gameking over a load of 4350 in my Ruger #1, it works well and he didn't miss at 150 yrds.
