Title: The delta 10mm
Post by: high country on December 13, 2015, 07:58:15 PM: Meat was talking about getting one, so I wanted to chine in. If you buy one, order an egw flat bottom fps, at least 150% mainspring (hammer, not slide) and watch the first few full house rounds through it.

Mine was bone stock and ammo that my glock (kkm) and RIA (stock sans fps) shot without bulging brass would blow a bubble that would scare the he k out of you. It feeds good.....but I wouldn't shoot a mag of 1250fps 200gr pills without being scared to death.

Friendly heads up based on my own experience.

This bears repeating; very good advice if you're going to shoot anything warmer than the "10mm lite" stuff a lot of makers sell these days.

I don't shoot hot loads in any of my 10mm's. Just store bought stuff. I don't reload for handguns.

And that's what most 10mm pistols are set up for from the factory. Problem is most of that "store bought stuff" only does 40 S&W ballistics - you pay extra for the 10mm headstamp but not much else.

Several makers do sell full power 10mm ammo - Buffalo Bore, Underwood, etc, even the Winchester 175gr Silvertip, but you have to know what you're buying.

I have Buffalo Bore for my RIA when I go wolf hunting in Idaho...

Post by: Firedogg on December 14, 2015, 07:26:42 PM: I won't shoot full +P or any hot load in my Delta Elite. The case is not fully supported when in battery, so the pressures are high enough in those loads to bulge or even rupture the casings.

Will keep the Colt as a conversation piece/plinker and will be getting a Dan Wesson Silverback for the hot stuff since I like the 10mm round.

Post by: CAMPMEAT on December 14, 2015, 08:20:01 PM: I bought an EAA Witness in 10mm, nice gun, but wouldn't shoot any 10mm. Jammed and stovepiped all the time. Sent it in for warranty and it came back worse. I sold it... Very, very unreliable gun.

Post by: RadSav on December 16, 2015, 03:09:16 AM: Other than the typical Kimber trigger, that I've never been a fan of, I've been quite pleased with their 10mm. Perhaps even more than the original Delta Elite that got me hooked on this round originally. So far I haven't found a round hot enough it will not run well. Would like to find a better sight as I'm getting better 50 yard groups with the XDm long slide .45, but I expect with a little work it should match or exceed the .45 at distance.

Haven't yet hit 1250 with 200 grain pills yet. At 1200 all brass has been perfect. Guess we will see when I get some real hot stuff here soon. Thanks to the heads up here I will watch it closely just to be safe!
