Title: Recoil Buffer
Post by: EmeraldBullet on December 29, 2015, 02:30:58 PM
Anyone have a recommendation for a good recoil buffer for my sig m716? Also a recommendation for a place to buy it from near Everett or Bellingham would be great as well. One friend suggested the KynSHOT hydraulic buffer, but I don't know much about buffers so any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also considering getting a brake, maybe by Lancer Viper, but not really sure how a brake works or what is good. Please give me some advice if you are familiar. Thanks!

Any advice on a brand of buffer and brake is welcome.

I ran Wilson Combat on a few 1911 competition guns.  Really no need unless running hot loads.  And then more to protect the slide.  Never ran one on a rifle.  Not sure of they make one for the Sig or not :dunno:

Thanks for the advice. I see Wilson Combat does make a .308 muzzle brake. Stupid beginner question, if I get a .308 or 7.62 brake can I only shoot either .308 or 7.62 (wheres without the brake my m716 can shoot either one with out issue). It's not a deal breaker if I would be limited to one or the other, but I'd have to give it more thought.

Break on a .308 doesn't make much sense to me unless you just like the cool look or your gun weighs about 5#.  The increased noise and dust offsets any benefit to getting back on target IMO.  I haven't run a clamp on muzzle break so I can't tell you what to expect as far as usability for other calibers besides .308/7.62.  That would be a question to ask somebody like Carpsniper.

I might reconsider the muzzle brake, I found some though that claim to suppress noise in addition to reducing recoil, and I could also switch my gas setting to suppressed fire. Any recommendations on a recoil buffer?

Any milspec buffer tube will work for you.  Don't over think it.

Don't over think it.

What's the fun in that? :chuckle:

Screw it.  Find the most expensive one you can.  Its only money.

Is there not a big difference in buffers? I guess there probably wouldn't be.

Still considering a brake though and it seems there is a bit of differences in those.
