We will be holding a meeting the evening of January 26th at 7pm to discuss forming a new chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation centered in the Bellevue/Redmond/Issaquah/Snoqualmie Valley area. The location is still pending but it will be somewhere along the I-90 corridor, probably in Issaqhah. If anyone is interested in attending, please send me a PM so I can keep a list going. We hope to have a location ironed out in the next week or so. Looking forward to seeing what we can do to put together a new chapter to help our deer, both blacktail and mule deer.
Now is our opportunity to be a part of making the changes needed to fix what we all sit around and complain about on the internet!!
See you there.
-
:bumpin:
Who's coming out??
In the process of securing an establishment in Issaquah with good burgers and cold beverages.
Worst case scenario, we jaw jack about mule deer and enjoy a cold pop.

sure is a long way to drive for a "pop"
-
PM on the way. This is great!
-
I might try and make it, can we make it earlier?
-
You have been talking to much to McKinley ... hahaha
-
Probably won't be any earlier, Jerry. Sorry. Hey just hang around a bit and kill some time.
-
I will be there. Sounds like fun! PM sent.
-
Right on. Thanks guys. It will be fun.
-
Remind me and I'll be there.(text)
-
I am not a member but would like to hear what this is all about. I will attend if it is OK for non members. If I could suggest a spot to meet, the Sunset Alehouse has good food and beer/ pop
-
Certainly don't have to be a member, Jamie. You're more than welcome.
Casey- will do.
-
Cool beans! I will be there. I owe ya a beer anyway.
-
The meeting would be in issaquah?

The meeting would be in issaquah?
Maybe/probably. I'm still waiting to hear from the Gaslamp in Issaquah to let me know if we can use their back room.
If not there, I've got a couple other options in the same general area I will explore.
-
We met in their back room a couple years ago and I brought my raffle deer rack, Mray brought his mule deer and CrazyElk brought his monster elk rack. Was hilarious to see all the patrons gawk at the antlers on tables in the back room.
Maybe I should bring last years moose Euro?
At the very least, can probably show you guys some pictures you haven't seen before...... ;)
-
I'm in!
-
I will do my best and try to make it! Look forward to meeting you all

Awesome guys, thanks!

I think I am in, it sound like by your description of blacktails and mule deer centered around the Issaquah area you are actually talking about what we all know to be "coastal blacktail" right?
Either way I am in.
-
I am in! PM Sent.
Could all meet at Issaquah sportsmans club. http://www.issaquahsportsmensclub.com/ (http://www.issaquahsportsmensclub.com/)

Gotcha, but I don't think they have food there.

The plan is to focus on whatever the consensus is among the members. We don't need to be committed to one or the other either. Where ever our help is needed, we can focus it.
Thanks Rick!

There's potential I may be there. I live on cougar mountain, not too far from there. I'm not sure yet.

Sweet. It's looking pretty solid for the Gas Lamp in Issaquah.
-
Let me know when it's all ironed out. I'm interested in coming if everything clicks. I'm doing some stuff with the Ellensburg chapter too but this is much closer.

Sounds good. I will be there.
Dave
-
That's great, thank you.
I'm going to send a pm out to everyone who has mentioned interest thus far. The manager would like a rough head count when we get closer.
No rush but maybe at the end of next week, it'll be good to have a more solid head count.
-
sure is a long way to drive for a "pop"
We're working on getting a new chapter rolling around Walla Walla, too...and we have a brand new chapter in Tri Cities, with a meeting on the 21st if you're interested in learning more.
-
You have been talking to much to McKinley ... hahaha
Hey, talking to people is what I do! We have chapters popping up all over the state, and starting to do bigger and better things for the deer all over! Just since 2012, we've put just shy of $200,000 on the ground in WA state alone, all thanks to the great chapters and volunteers that we have here!
-
Looking forward to this meeting coming up. As this is an informational meeting and startup, I will try to bring anything needed to help answer questions, put down a timeline, expectations, etc. That being said, if any of you know that you have specific questions, let me know here and I'll either answer them here, or make sure to have the answers for you at the meeting. I do my best to explain everything I can at meetings, but there are always questions that hit guys later, after the meeting, too. So, if you think of something, post it on here, just to make sure we don't forget about it and miss it. See you all at the Gas Lamp!
-
I think for question #1, what does this group need to do to become an official chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation? Raise money, have an action plan, charter, meet certain requirements such as minimum number of members, identify a "territory", etc.
Other than that, I suspect a lot of what this chapter does will be discussed and agreed upon by the membership.
Thanks!
Dave

To become a chapter, all the group needs to do is submit a Charter Application. That's it. No requirement beyond that.
That being said, there's not much use in having a chapter if the chapter doesn't do anything, like hold a banquet to raise funds to put on the ground, take part in local shows to promote and educate, assist or lead projects, etc. None of that is required, but it is, after all, why most groups start chapters, and I would hope the same for this group and area. Too much good work out there that needs to be done, and proactive people are the ones who get those things accomplished.
Looking forward to answering any and all other questions either here or at the meeting.
-
I'm really glad to see this effort going forward. (Please make sure you spell Sammamish correctly.)

One of my life struggles. I'm truly sorry, Mr. Sammamish.

Bumping this up for anyone who might have missed it.
Should be a great turnout.

I would like to attend. Wil confirm by tomorrow night but count me in .

I'm just going to keep moving it all over the place every couple days.
:)

Sounds good.
-
Maybe move it to Hunting contests, events, organizations and charity next.
-
Any idea of expected turnout?
Dave

Should be 15-20 folks there I think.
-
Sounds good! Thanks again for initiating this and doing all the work! I'll be happy to help out in the future!

I plan on attending that night. What kind of things will we be discussing? I would love to get involved, and have volunteered with a few organizations and have felt their mission wasn't quite clear enough. I want to do what I can for the deer and really look forward to this meeting. Is there a way to become a member at this meetup?

This.
I am local and interested in attending. Do I need to join anything prior to this?

You don't need to join prior. As far as joining while we're there, not sure how we'd do that. Maybe Dan has an answer. For the record, you can join up online at www.muledeer.org

I'm hoping Dan McKinley(MuleDeer) will chime in again and say for sure, but I'm sure the majority of talk Tuesday night will be in regards to what is involved in starting the chapter.
-
Just a quick bump/reminder.
Look forward to seeing people tomorrow night at the Gaslamp.
-
Gaslamp huh? About 20 yards from my work. Maybe I'll stay late and have a beer if you guys don't mind a bowhunting sheep addict.

What's the head count for tonight?
-
Hey everyone, sorry I cannot make it. Lost my person to let puppy out of crate this evening. Will join the chapter online this evening (or at least www.muledeer.org if the chapter isn't listed yet). See everyone next meeting. Post some meeting minutes if possible.
Please don't leave me in the crate, come home right away after work!

What's the head count for tonight?
I've got 20 or so who are either coming or are possibly coming.
-
I am going to try and make it.
-
I'll probably get there early and grab something to eat if anyone want to join. If I go home first, I'll probably not feel like making the drive from Mill Creek!
Carl
-
Depending on traffic, I should be there a little early and grab a bite also.
-
I should be there by 6:30 or so and plan on eating there as well.
I see a bacon cheeseburger and fries in my future.
-
Who am I kidding, there's pretty much always a bacon cheeseburger and fries in my future. This is no special occasion.

Sorry for the last minute answers, but my life gets crazy about Jan. 1, and doesn't let up til June! You don't have to be a member to be there tonight, or even to be a member of the chapter, for that matter, although the vast majority are. If you want to sign up, come by our booth at the Puyallup show this week, or you can join online, or do what most do, and that is renew at your local banquet each year. That's the easy way to remember!
We'll talk about what it takes to make a chapter click, what our mission statement is and what we've done locally, as well as what needs to be done, plus, I'm happy to answer any questions for all of you tonight.
I'll have some magazines and lots of answers for you all, and look forward to talking about what we can do! Leaving Tacoma shortly to head that way for some dinner!
-
I'm here. At the bar on left.

Came down with a nasty cold over the weekend, so I wasn't able to make it, but I am interested in future meetings. Hope tonight's meeting was a productive one!
Dave
-
Dissapointed I could not make it work tonight. Will stay tuned for the next meeting, and look forward to meeting some members at the Sportsmens show this weekend!
-
Really good meeting tonight. Sorry you guys couldn't make it. I think there were 18 people there plus Dan and his wife. The biggest chapter kickoff meeting ever for Dan. Good stuff!! We need to come up with an official name and we need to see who is interested in becoming banquet and chapter chairs. If you're interested, please chime in. Hopefully we can all work together to make this happen.
-
I agree. Thanks for pushing this along.
Everyone needs to give their suggestion for a Chapter Name.
My suggestion is the Snoqualmie Chapter.
-
Figured ya'll wouldnt want my flu infeceted body there.
-
Great to see all the interest last night and good to meet so many of you.
I don't think the whole Mercer Island Mule Deer Chapter is going to stick. :chuckle:
I do like Snoqualmie or Mt Si Chapter.
Looking forward to hearing other ideas.
Thanks again to Josh for getting us all together.

The only pic that really made sense last night showing about half the room. Good turnout and great meeting a few of you; even those that willingly shoot a Mathews. :-)

How about the "Bigfoot" chapter :chuckle: :chuckle: lol
-
Too centrally located. If we were further south then I'd say go for it. I don't think there are too many bigfoots/bigfeet?? running around this area.

I started with a Hoyt, that is when I lost my hearing, then switched to a smooth and quiet Mathews which I already posted on another thread is the best bow ever made or ever will be made. :chuckle:
I'm not sure how much we are going to get accomplished but I guaranty we are going to have a good time doing it.

The wolves made it to North Bend not long ago, bigfoot or bigfeets can't be too far behind.
-
Even with all the action we missed on the elk and sheep threads, I am still glad I went to this meeting last night.
FYI if anyone goes back there just for dinner and drinks the pressure fried chicken and jo-jo's were awesome.
-
It was great meeting people and putting faces to names. I think a name like Snoqualmie Chapter is good. It would have statewide name recognition and might help with future donations.

I don't think so. If he was, he was incognito. Which one looks like him?
It's me in the hat in the very front left of the pic. Rainier10 is right behind me, jkthomps is in the blue shirt to the right of Rainier10. Rafflemule is the blond haired guy to the right of him in the foreground. BoomWhop is way back in the background in the black hat. MuleDeer and his wife up front. Not sure the screen names of everyone else in the pic.

Keep it up and I will tell everyone about your secret whitetail spot in SE Washington, the one in the stubble wheat field up the other road.

You mean this Carl....aka Carl?
:chuckle:
-
I see nothing wrong with Sammamish, Snoqualmie, Mt Si or maybe even Tiger Mt! I think its better to have the name represent the region in which the chapter will be located rather than some names that sound more like a softball team! :twocents:

I don't know buddy....all that gray makes you look old! I think sipping a pop, enjoying the sun, and letting the boys pull pots is better than tromping around in all that dang snow.

I'm curious as to what happened to the previous Puget Sound chapters of the MDF. There was one in Seattle, one in Mt. Vernon, and one, I think, in Sultan. Do any of those still exist ?
-
The one in Mt Vernon does still exist and from what we were told last night, does pretty well.
Not sure about the rest of them.

Yeah, it wasn't meant to be a slam on either one of you. I think Nate is just a bigger guy all around, taller, wider shoulders and with that comes heavier.
Sounds like you are already motivated and dropped a bunch of weight.
People say I am thin but I am still 60 pounds heavier than I was when I graduated, it's all relative.

I know Carl. I'm not sure if Carl knows that I know Carl, but I do know Carl in the pictures. Upon seeing the pictures, it was the first time that I realized I know Carl.
As far as the chapter name, being that we are on the West side, why not Chapter Blacktail, or better yet, Chapter Benchleg?
-
I need to make it to the next get together... I think ''coastie chapter'' would be fitting.
-
There is already a chapter out of the Lake Stevens area called the Cascade Blacktail Chapter.
My vote would be the Snoqualmie Chapter.
Also I have a volunteer who has stepped up to take on the role of banquet chair. Would anyone be interested in taking on the co-chair position? Dan touched on the details a little last night but he can clarify more if needed. Doesn't sound like it's a large amount of work. If you're interested, send Dan a p.m. or email and he can fill you in on the details.

Rainier10 suggested we name it the Mercer Island Mulies.
:yike:
Sounded like a men's softball team name to me.
-
Put it to vote during the next meeting. You can have a short discussion period where people can throw out their ideas, then vote.
-
Or, we could just challenge the Lake Stevens chapter to a good old fashioned rumble for their name.
Intra-Coastal Chapter? The 206ers?

I was just going to suggest the same thing in a post - good thing I decided to catch up on the thread first.
-
I agree that's probably the best way to do it. I was going to do a poll on here but realized maybe not everyone was on here.
-
Thanks for posting the "Coug" picture BoomWhop! Good talking to you, Carl and I think Buckjunkie as we were all at the "Coug" table. Looking forward to the next meeting.
-
Maybe we should try and plan a quick meeting/event to organize a little and vote on a formal name. Once this chapter is formally up and running we can put our hard work to use and make a difference. I have been researching some other chapters and their events and I think we could easily become the state leading chapter. :) the competitive side in me haha.
-
Sounds like a plan. Somewhere where we can actually hear each other would probably be better this time.
:)
-
Lope,
Do you know if the consensus is to focus on blacktail or mule deer projects?
-
I would assume blacktail given our location... but we can decide as a chapter. From my understanding, we have full say on where funds are distributed, so as a chapter we can decide what is best.
-
As far as other locations, I called the Roundtable pizza in Issaquah and they have a separate meeting room that can be reserved a few days in advance.
The Good - They don't charge a fee, it is quiet cause it is a separate room and there isnt a trivia night :chuckle:
The Bad - They will not except a long term reservation say like every 3rd Wednesday of month for the year, You must call each time
The Ugly - Well its pizza so I refer to it as death disc but its soooo tasty! but bad for you :(
I called Zeke's up on the Issaquah highlands and they say they have room for groups however they don't have a separate room, but better pizza :dunno: ... just stay away from Wednesdays cause that is trivia night :o
If anyone has any other ideas by all means look into it, I only suggested a pizza joint cause typically they have space, its quiet and there isnt a fee.
-

The more I think about this the more I am confused :o if guys want to support Blacktail then why not join a Blacktail chapter or Blacktail foundation? I want to work on supporting Mule deer and well after all it is "The Mule Deer Foundation" so if projects and names go to supporting BT then I may have a decision to make. :dunno:
-
The MDF is the main support organization for both black tail and mule deer. Makes sense to support blackies on this side. There are mdf chapters in eastern wa that mainly focus on mulies. Or split and support both. I live on the west side but mainly hunt mulies. I'm already hoping with the Ellensburg chapter but this is closer and I can help both chapters.

Ok well then it's my vote to focus on Mule deer ... if guys want to support BT it sounds like there are already plenty of other chapters doing that and they can join there. I would like to have a chapter on the Westside for a change that made the main focus on Mule deer. :twocents: I know some other people that are waiting to see what direction this chapter goes before they commit to a meeting and or join but the thing that has kept them from joining in the past is the focus on BT, and they also want to support MD. :dunno:
-
I am a mule deer fanatic, so I am interested in Mule deer projects. There is a blacktail chapter forming on South Hill that is closer to where I live. If the consensus is blacktail, I will likely put my time in elsewhere.
-
The focus of the chapter is up to the chapter. It can be all mule deer or it can be all blacktail. It can also be 50/50, 20/80, 80/20, blacktail/mule deer. it can be whatever we want it to be. What makes the most sense to me is to see what species needs the most help in the state and focus our efforts there. Personally I'd be most interested in mule deer projects as well, but I don't think that it is something that needs to be set in stone at this point. If a mule deer project comes up and we want to participate, we participate. If a blacktail project comes up and we want to participate in that...we can. As far as volunteer time goes, I think bouncing back and forth is easy. We may need to be a little more specific in terms of money dispersal ahead of time I guess. I think a true answer on this topic best comes from Dan McKinley at this point until we all figure out what the heck we're doing.

I agree and I get what you are saying, :dunno: The chapter may loose a few now though and the potential of future recruitment if a direction is never decided until a project comes up 8 months from now??? :dunno: and then those wanting to support MD have to hope that they are not voted down by those wanting to support BT. That's why I went to the meeting and why I wanted to hear for myself, I still signed up for a 3 year membership but I am one that will likely bow out if things swing the direction of BT. :sry:
-
I wanted to have more discussion at the meeting, but it was pretty loud. If Dan can come to the next meeting I will want to ask if there is any organization with other chapters to determine priority or do most chapters just do their own thing.
I'm looking forward to the next meeting and getting a better understanding of the direction of our group.
Thanks to all who took time away to support wildlife.

It will all get discussed and figured out in time. Can't expect much after 1 meeting.

This is exactly what Dan was saying and what I was saying... as a chapter we can decide where any funds go. We, as a group, need time to decide. One meeting won't get us this. I am all for mule or black, I think it really comes down to where we can be most beneficial.

I think we are early enough in the chapter where we can make some streamline decisions and take this into consideration. This statement needs to be heard and is very valid.

How much lead time would you guys need or want for the next meeting date?
-
The more the better for me, but I can try to make whatever work.
-
At least a week for me.
-
The more the better for me, but I can try to make whatever work.
Ditto.
-
And for what it's worth, Monday's and Wednesdays are usually no good for me.
-
I need to make it to the next get together... I think ''coastie chapter'' would be fitting.
That would be perfect!
-
I'm pretty flexible, but a week notice would be good. Is jkthomps planning the next meeting?
-

I can set something up if you guys want. I want to make sure lead times are in place to accommodate as many people as possible. My thoughts are we need to be organized and have a clear objective in place for our chapter. This is something I take a lot of pride in, and really want to see this chapter come together and succeed. I want to make sure our way of life is available for future generations and they have the opportunity to enjoy our sport for many years to come.
I can reach out to Dan aka Muledeer and get some advice, but what I think we should do is have a meeting where we decide a chapter name, make it formal, complete paperwork, and make our objectives clear i.e. 100% focus on mulies. Then we can come up with fundraising ideas, shows/events to attend, outdoor projects to dedicate time towards etc...
I would recommend Thursday evening meetings. I can call a few places and see about areas large enough and quiet enough for us to have a meeting. The first meeting was great, and Dan provided a lot of great information, so I think we should be able to take these next steps even if he can't make it over.
Keep me posted if you guys want me to organize this next one. I was thinking February 25th at 7pm. Lots of lead time, end of the week... lots of time for organization and inquiries in the meantime...
If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, or is already way ahead of me, post them up so we can make this happen.
-
Or maybe Feb 18th? The 25th seems like a long ways away. :)
-
Either of those dates work for me. I would rather focus on Mule deer but would be open to a split if that is what the majority wants.

I'm with this guy both ways, as I suspect a lot of the guys who were in attendance the other night would be as well.

I would recommend the following:
Name: Snoqualmie Chapter
Focus: Mule Deer
Meeting Location: Issaquah for primary meetings – Banquets and events to be decided and formalized at meetings.
Is everyone good with Issaquah for this next meeting? I don’t know where everyone is located, but I can throw together a quick excel spreadsheet with names and cities and link it to a map and see where a good central location is for everyone. Issaquah works for me, but I see a lot of people from all over the area, and think it should be a group decision.
Per Dan, “To become a chapter, all the group needs to do is submit a Charter Application.
Too much good work out there that needs to be done, and proactive people are the ones who get those things accomplished.”
So, for this next meeting, I think we need to choose banquet chairs, get the Charter Application in, come up with a process/workflow for banquets to raise funds, future shows to attend, and projects to volunteer for. Dan and MDF have a ton of resources available to us once we become a formal chapter.
Thoughts?
-
Just a couple of thoughts.
I think Issaquah is a great place to meet again, we had a great turn out for the informational meeting.
I think any establishment that has a more private room would be good and pizza places almost always have something like that. I am not familiar with what is in Issaquah but I am sure I could get something off of Google.
I would say whichever of the two dates suggested that Dan could attend would be better.
I think Dan has the list of emails for those who attended that meeting if we could get our hands on that to make sure everyone gets invited back that would be great.
I say lets talk about the name at the meeting to take a vote.
Also talk about what the focus will be, from the people I talked to at the meeting it seemed like mule deer but we can confirm that at the next meeting.
Jim or Josh, have etiher of you talked to Dan? I saw him at the sportsmans show and don't have a problem reaching out to him for the list of contacts, asking which meeting he could make and pinning down a place in Issaquah with a meeting room for dinner.
-
I've talked to him off and on but nothing significant. I can shoot him a text and ask him for the list.
Whatever you guys think.
-
Our own section on the site, great idea guys, well done!
-
Thursday's are the best day for me. JK, your plan sounds good to me for starters.
I live in Buckley and I know we had guys there from Mill Creek, so Issaquah seems like a good mid point.
-

Whatever you guys think.
I haven't talked to Dan yet. Shoot him a text. I thought he had a depredation tag to fill, but I wasn't sure when he said he would be hunting, so I was hoping he would jump in when he was done. Don't quote me on this, I could be completely wrong. :D
-
Going back through the posts M_Ray said that Roundtable Pizza in Issaquah had a room that you could reserve in advance. I am thinking that is a good idea.

Agreed. Even if Dan can't make it, we should be able to get these next steps going. :twocents: PM inbound on locations I have reached out to.
-
As far as other locations, I called the Roundtable pizza in Issaquah and they have a separate meeting room that can be reserved a few days in advance.
They have a separate room that can be reserved for free.

I sent a couple of PMs from my work laptop and it doesn't look like they went through. For some reason I have an issue on the website from my work computer. Anyways, I called roundtable pizza and they accept reservations 3 - 7 days ahead of time and no fee to use their room. I know someone already did this, so don't ask why I did it again haha. I also called Issaquah Brewery and they have two rooms. They don't charge a venue fee Sunday - Thursday. Friday and Saturday they "might" charge a fee being their busy days. The rooms are separated from the restaurant so noise won't be an issue.
Sorry the messages didn't go through earlier. I am down for what ever we need and decide. I just want to make sure this doesn't stall and fizzzz out.

Has anyone else heard of this? If this was posted previously I apologize.
Amazon Smile
I don't know how many of you are aware of it, but Amazon will donate .5% of the price of any purchase you make through their Amazon Smile program. You access it by going through smile.amazon.com to shop. They have a searchable database of charitable organizations. I had heard of it but never set it up. When I made a purchase today I was prompted to set it up. I went through the list and saw that NRA, RMEF, and Mule Deer Foundation are all listed as eligible charities. I went ahead and signed up for it as it doesn't cost anything and helps out a charity of your choice. I just figured I would pass it along to those of you that weren't aware of this program.

Obviously it would be best if we could get credit for donations as a chapter. I will look in to it.

Everyone needs to make sure they see the new thread for the updated meeting. We have a back room reserved and a head count would be great. Let's get this chapter started!

Hello Forum Members who were originally interested in a Mule Deer Foundation Chapter in the Sammamish/Snoqualmie area!
I'm not sure how many followers of this original post are following more recent posts, but being that there was a great turnout for the first chapter meeting at the Gaslamp in Issaquah yet lesser turnouts at Meeting #2 and #3, I thought I'd post an update here on the original post to reach as many folks as possible.
Great news is that we are now a chapter, the Snoqualmie Chapter, and we are focusing on Mule Deer! We've met twice since the first meeting and have worked with Dan and Rachel to set up our first banquet on Saturday June 4th! We're excited to raise money that we can direct towards Mule Deer conservation efforts in the State of Washington of the Snoqualmie Chapter's choosing!
Below is the info on the Inaugural Banquet of the Snoqualmie Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation and a link to the post announcing the next chapter meeting. It promises to be a great event, centrally located on the East Side of Lake Washington!
The post below is from our fearless Jim Thompson, Banquet Chairman, announcing our next meeting on Thursday April 28th! It would be great if the folks that attended the initial meeting at the Gaslamp to attend the meeting on Thursday at the Issaquah Brewhouse, which is much quieter than the Gaslamp, and a better meeting place with great food and beer!
We are gearing up for promoting this banquet at next Thursday's meeting, as well as strategizing on ticket sales, soliciting prize and monetary donations and prize underwriting. Please come to next Thursday's meeting (info below) and help out the great cause of Mule Deer and other Wildlife Conservation!!!

I will be at the next meeting and what I took away from the last meeting was Dan and Rachel are really doing most of the heavy lifting on this thing.
What we really need is to get the big turn out that we had at meeting number 1 at the gaslamp and get everyone that attended that to just get the word out to friends and family about the event.
I think there were 20 people at that first meeting if each one of them got 4 other people to come to the banquet we would have a very successful turn out.
Any additional sponsors or donations would be icing on the cake but the real thing that we need to focus on right now is just filling the seats at the dinner. A big turnout will be fun for everyone and give everyone a chance at some really great stuff.
One of the great offers with the dinner is if you make a reservation now you can buy raffle tickets at a discount rate of two $1 tickets for just $1, so $200 in raffle tickets only costs you $100 during the presale.
I have seen the list of items in the raffles and live auctions and there is some really cool stuff. This is going to be a great event.
I hope to see all of you from the first meeting back again on April 28th, this will be a lot easier than you think.

Great meeting last night. Super glad to be have tickets sold already.
The discount raffle tickets for the presale is a great option for those that sign up now.
I think next year I might look into the life member option, a free trip to Mexico for two just for signing up as a life member is a pretty sweet deal.
Who all from this original thread will be able to make the June 4th dinner?
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
-
Thanks Rainier,
If you want to attend, you can PM either Rainier or myself and we'll get you signed up. You can also sign up and pay with a credit card and print your tickets right on the MDF website!

Hello Folks,
We've cancelled the banquet due to lack of interest.
-
Cancelled? Is this a joke?
-
No joke. Canceled. No interest. We had 19 tickets sold.
-
Yep, big bummer. I had 16 of those tickets for friends and family, they were all pretty disappointed that it got cancelled. There are other chapters that have already had banquets or are getting ready to have one but the upcoming dates don't work for us and the others have already happened.
Maybe next year there will be more interest or the dates will work out better.
Turn out for our first meeting was great. If everyone there would have had 5 people get banquet tickets I think we would have had a great event. Attendance really fizzled after that first meeting, not sure why.
Any insight on why interest dropped off would be helpful to try and get this going for next year.
